There aren't people, and they haven't heard these yelling like this Stop the with We don't have a direction. We don't have any control over our communities because we don't
vote and we need to change that apathy. We need to change that way of thinking. And no wonder other people come into our communities and tell us what to do. Treat us the way they treat us, act the way they act with us because we don't have a say in how that's done. Because again, we are disenfranchised even on a mental state by not even voting. We don't have any control over our communities. We don't have any control over our communities. When we join, we clear that we didn't have a say we now say that we don't have a

Description
Episode Description
On this day, 25 years ago, a violent incident in the intersection of Normandie and Florence Avenues quickly turned into a mass revolt and in hours the fire raged through South and Central LA. The five days of civil violence left a tragic toll of nearly 60 deaths, thousands injured, and a billion dollars in property damages. While the trigger was a case of police brutality, what were the root causes of the violence? Can it happen again? Have the devastated communities truly risen from the ashes? What has Los Angeles learned from that tragic experience? This is the second hour of a two-hour special radio panel airing from the studios of KPFK, Pacifica Radio, in Los Angeles, in simulcast with the Radio Bilingüe network. Guests: Manuel Criollo, Director of Organizing, Labor/Community Strategy Center, Los Angeles, CA; Aurea Montes-Rodriguez, Executive Vice President, Community Coalition; Yongo Kim, Korean Resource Center; Scarlett de León, Representative, Koreatown Immigrant Workers Alliance; Jorge Gonzalez, Civil Rights Attorney, National Lawyers Guild/Mexican American Political Association; Reina Villatoro, Community Worker, Community Coalition; Abraham Torres, Photographer and Eyewitness, Alex Sánchez, Executive Director, Homies Unidos; Aurea Montes-Rodriguez, Executive Vice President, Community Coalition;Los Angeles, CA
