How does the government expect for me to get by on this just enough to keep me from starving but not quite enough to live on? Can't afford hamburger anymore and dark food is almost as much more nutritious. Oh well nobody cares. I am so mad. I want to punch somebody in it body. Honey can I help you? You you as old and as helpless as I. I am so mad. How does the government expect me to live on these few dollars? Well you know there's no point in getting mad. It's the only privilege I have left and if somebody tries to take that away from me then I'm really going to get mad. Too old and sick to work they say. I'm as old and sick as anybody else. Did you know that the world is run by people who got something wrong with them? Well I don't know. Well I do. They're all they're all old and if you're old you're hurting and if you're hurting how you gonna make decisions that feel
good. Now what's your ailment honey? I beg your pardon look you got wrinkles around your eyes wrinkles around your mouth your hands great and look how you stand them got to be a bad problem. No bad options. Well I must be going where you're going out dancing. Look I'm sorry but I get this way every month it's the only sock or I can look forward to. It'll be all gone in a month and then I'll be too tired and hungry even to get mad. Well what about your family? Surely they care. Would you believe I might live my family? Except for one daughter. Oh arthritis how bad is it? Oh it's not so bad anymore. You know it only bothers me when it's hot or when it's cold or when it's sunny
or when it's raining or when it's breathing. Well you know I'm sorry to hear about that but I got to be going you see my electricity it's due to be turned on today. You know it could be on right now I think I left the television on you see I don't want to waste energy. You got a TV. Well of course doesn't everybody. Don't get personal with me. I mean I don't even know you and if you're that knows it I don't care too. You don't have a television do you? Look for your information I grew up with a radio. Well so did I for that matter. You know I would love to have you over for some tea. Perhaps maybe even some lunch. I used to cook all the time when Sam was alive. I haven't felt like much or anything lately. You know I don't live too far from
here just just over there. Unless of course you prefer your radio. You know payback some bitch. Well okay but no tea and sympathy unless you got some Jack Daniels to go in that tea. Well Lord knows I'm old enough to buy and that's for sure. And you know the liquor store would be a change in the old routine. But can you afford the change? A change for the change. I'm game. By the way I'm Lucille Mrs. Ames. Okay Lucille I'm Annie. Okay Annie but I prefer Lujedo. Okay Luc I live over on Langley. 43 43 Champlain. You know I've been there since 1945. I never go on Champlain much. Don't know
why I just never cared too yet I've never seen you before today. You know it must be faith. You know I believe in that sort of thing. I was just thinking just the other day. you

- Series Description
- WQED’s Black Horizons was launched in 1968 and was designed to address the concerns of African American audiences. More than just a forum for the community, the series served as a training ground for Black talent in front of and behind the camera. Through the decades, the program featured various hosts and producers until Emmy winning journalist Chris Moore took over the program in the 1980s. He was later joined by Emmy winning producer Minette Seate before the program evolved into WQED’s Horizons in the 2000s.
