Colon cancer is the second leading cause of death by cancer in the U.S. The good news is that if people begin taking colon exams at 50, nine of every ten cases of colon cancer can be prevented. In this program, contributor Eleazar Salinas describes how he was able to find his cancer after demanding an immediate colonoscopy. Also, Dr. William Garnica, a representative of the American Cancer Society in Fresno, CA, shares practical advise to prevent and fight this disease. FARM WORKER CAMPAIGN TARGETS MCDONALD'S, CHIPOTLE. Organized farm workers from Florida culminated a national tour targetting fast-food chains McDonald's and Chipotle Mexican Grill. The labor campaign seek an agreement from the fast food giants to help bring fair wages and humane conditions for field workers who supply food for these restaurants. The Washington State Department of Labor has approved regulations to protect farm workers from heat stroke. These rules are being enacted after a farm worker died during a heat wave last summer. Unionists warn that the measures are vague and insufficient and demand more protections from Gov. Christine Gregoire.
