Hello and welcome to our three of Friday night jazz on VP are so glad to have you along with us A little more music to go before we say goodbye at 11 p.m You know, there are jazz musicians and there are those who have been profoundly influenced by the melodic rhythmic and harmonic Influence that the music has provided this group boy, you know, they could be example a in many many cases Walter Becker, Donald Fagans ensemble, Steely Dan. We're going to start our three with two recordings from the very best of steely Dan, you know, I think in addition to their fine lyrics, you know, you can hear the influence now there are obvious influences such as the use of soloist like Wayne shorter, Jackie Kelsow, people of that nature, but you know, they're subtle Harmonic twist and turns are are clearly influenced by the music and this is not just, you know, an amateur speculating Read any interviews with Walter Becker and he talks about this and he's well versed in the music
But I'll let the music speak for itself. That's what it's all about, isn't it? We will start this hour and this set with the composition Babylon sisters and then we'll conclude with time out of mind to Me Fly west on sunset to the sea
Turn that jungle music down Just on to one out of town, this is no one night stand at our relocation, close your eyes and you'll be there, it's everything they say, the end of our perfect day, distant lights from across the bay. Babylon's just a shake. Babylon's just a shake. So find so you'll be the only one. Here come those ten and the winds again.
We'll jog with the showfolk on the sand. Three cushbosses from a ship. Sand friends is going to show it to you. Well, I should know by now that it's just a spasm. Like a Sunday in 2J that it's cheap but it's not free. That's not what I'm used to be. And that book's not a game for three. Babylon's just a shake. Babylon's just a shake. So find so you'll be the only one. Here come those ten and the winds again.
My friends say no, don't go for that, I can't be. So your playing with fire, the kid will live and learn. As he watches his riches grow from the fall of the war return. Babylon's just a shake. So find so you'll be the only one.
