um uh huh huh h proposition of move right huh five It's 90.3, 91.7 KEXP, it's about five minutes past one o'clock on Stevie Zoom and you just heard, new music from the ponies, you heard the song Shadow Box, they're going to be at the crocodile. Next month on Tuesday, August the 9th, but playing tonight at the crocodile is the band who are in our studio right now on a welcome maximum park. Hello. Thank you for coming in. And you guys are going to be busy today because you're playing tonight at the crocodile and a little bit later on this afternoon, you can head on over to the easy street records store over on Queen Anne, they're going to be playing at three o'clock.
And I think this is sort of at the end of your U.S. tour. It's true. And so just make it really busy for you before you leave. That's right. We're going to shred our voices and bleed our fingers today and give it up. Would you like to do an introduction for our audience, for the who's every one of the videos? Yeah, no problem. Paul Smith on lead vocals to my right is Mr. Duncan Lloyd on the Rick and Baker guitar. Opposite me, I have Mr. Lucas Waller, who's gazing at his keyboard ever saw it gently. We have Arches Tiku who sat down on a sofa wearing sunglasses as only Arches Tiku could possibly do. And on drums to my left, the cacophanes, yet tightly rhythmic, Tom English on drums. Again, thanks for everybody coming in. It looks great. They're sitting on the couch with the shades on. His phone is calling in life today. I think we'll set a pattern for touch his life. All right. They're going to play tonight at the crocodile. If you're ready for the first song, go right ahead. OK, this is the coast is always changing.
I've met so many people who've said the most we've forgotten, but you're still remaining. Most of the time, I don't care. We're moving so far away when you're there. I'm so excited to meet you, sir. I'm only happy when I'm in nowhere. I am young and tired of lost every sentence has its cost. I am young and when I am lost, you react to my repost. We look out upon the sea, when the power upon the sea, the cost of tar is changing. I'll bring my camera out to see the cost of tar is changing.
I'm only happy when I'm in nowhere. I am young and tired of lost every sentence has its cost. We look out upon the sea, when the power upon the sea, the cost of tar is changing. We'll take the trade out to the sea, the hearts are always changing. People belong, fall, you've gone, I can't imagine you're leaving.
You've won't belong, before you've gone, I can't imagine you're leaving. People belong, they fall, you've gone. I can't imagine you're leaving, people belong, before you've gone, I can't imagine you're leaving. We look out upon the sea, when the power upon the sea, the cost of tar is changing. I'll bring my camera out to see the hearts of tar is changing. We'll take the trade out to the sea, my pencils are always racing. I'll swing the power upon the sea, the cost of tar is changing. It's 90.3 KEXP, it's live music for Maximo Park, that was the coast is always changing.
It's on the full length album that's out here in the US called a certain trigger. Again, they're playing tonight at the crocodile. That was a great song from the new album. It's getting a lot of great audience reaction to the album here in the US. I know a few of their songs are moving up the charts in Britain. I liked the idea of the EP introduction here in the US prior to the full length album. That's worked out pretty well. Yeah, we want to introduce people to us. Yeah, I like that EP as an introduction. I think that's pretty cool. Thanks. Now, you guys are based in Newcastle. Half an hour away on the train. It's about a sort of coastal journey.
There's a train that just goes right by the coastline. You can see everything. There's a place along there called Blast Beach, which used to have a mind there. The mind was blown up. It's left the rocks in quite an exciting state. There's lots of very vivid colours. It's a nice place to go for a day trip. That's the beauty of Newcastle. It's kind of got a lot of an industrial heritage that creates a very interesting coastline. But it's also quite a beautiful thing to be near the sea. I know that the weather can radically change in that area. Certainly can. That has an effect on it. Yeah, definitely. There's a lot of geological change, I assume. The new album I'm really impressed by, it seems like you guys really focus a lot on the melodies of the songs. I wonder if you could talk a little bit about that. It's one of those things that's really important to us. Every single person in the band is a fan of pop music and of melody. I think the Beatles is one of those things where they really turned rock and roll. It's something that could be really, really catchy and still have a little bit of an edge.
I mean, I suppose that's something that we'd like to carry on and put our own stamp on things. There's nothing better than hearing a really catchy melody and it couldn't suddenly change your day. And that's what pop music is to us. It's that transformational aspect of it that really makes us feel like it's worthwhile doing. And you're doing a great on the new record. They're playing this afternoon over at Easy Street Records and Queen Anne Store, not very far away from here. So you don't have too far to go. And then tonight at the Crocodile, which is close by. You guys ready for another two? I would think so. It's going to be called Apply Some Pressure. You know that I would love to see you next year. I hope that I'm still alive next year. You might be fine the way I think you're by myself. Before you came, I really thought about myself. If I had to fail, I found the body underneath. It's like your head with which I never thought about. You know that I would love to see you next year. I hope that I'm still alive next year. What's my view?
Well, how am I supposed to know? Right to review. Well, how are different kind of me? What's my view? Well, how am I supposed to know? Right to review. Well, how are different kind of me? You know that I would love to see you in that test. I hope that I would love to see you on dress. Be every day. It's part of what the team speaks. The hit I feel is part of what fuels me. Out this device. I'm getting to feelings. I'm as confess. I'm like leaving off stealing. You know that I would love to see you in that test. I hope that I really want to see you on dress. What's my view? Well, how am I supposed to know? Let's review. Well, how are different kind of me? What's my view? Well, how am I supposed to know? Right to review. Well, how are different kind of me? I like to wait. See how things turn out. If you apply some pressure. I like to wait. See how things turn out. If you apply some pressure. What happens when you do? What happens when you do?
What's every new thing? You just start again. You start all over again. What happens when you do? What happens when you lose everything? You just start again. You start all over again. I like to wait. See how things turn out. If you apply some pressure. I like to wait. See how things turn out. If you apply some pressure. What happens when you do? What happens when you lose everything? You just start again. You start all over again. What happens when you lose everything? You just start again. You start all over again. What happens when you lose everything? You just start again.
I hope that I was gonna live next time You know that I would love to see you in the dress I hope that I would love to see you in the dress So I have music from Maximo Park here at KEXP Apply some pressure as the song Again, that's on the new album, a certain trigger Art just got off the couch for that one Even I'm teasing the guy that doesn't have a microphone Hehehe So easy to do It's a beautiful, pugeless The bands will also play in tonight at the crocodile Troubled Hubble who are gonna play live here at 4 o'clock
And the blood armor also gonna play It's an 18 and over show So a lot more people can get in Drinking Age here in most states is 21 But this is, we can get, some kids into this one tonight too So old school That's good At home is the drinking age It's 18 It's 18 So yeah, I mean a lot of clubs Have underage nights but there's also a lot of clubs that don't so That's a bit annoying really Because we want to get to as many people as possible Young and old alike Right Again, maximum park are gonna be at easy street records Of the queen hand store at 3 p.m. And I was mentioning earlier, wrapping up the tour After you're gonna go home from here Yeah, yeah, we're gonna fly from Seattle All the way to London, which isn't our home So we're gonna have to get another three hour train journey We're up to New Castle in the North East of England But we've got we've got a few things to do in London Such as visa things and very, very boring administrative things And for the rest of the summer, some of the summer festivals and things
Yeah, yeah, festivals all summer really I mean, I look at our schedule and it's flying from Portugal to Oslo To Spain, back to England to do Things like the Red and the Leeds Festival over to Japan Hence our Japanese embassy visits We're doing as many as we can, just again I feel like our music's, you know, meant for not just a humble few You know, it's meant for a lot of people I wasn't near a TV too much yesterday I did catch a couple of the bands of the live eight Oh, yeah, shows that we're going on Were you guys able to catch any of that? I saw a little bit of Pink Floyd and I was rather surprised to see Roger Waters on stage with the others I missed Pink Floyd entirely, so Not such a bad thing It was a kind of drifted as Pink Floyd tend to do And I mean, you know, it was, it was quite interesting He was smiling, which was quite interesting He enjoyed himself Roger Waters enjoyed himself, so I guess it was a momentous to rock and roll I have to go on the web to look at that one
Maybe I saw the who and Madonna Madonna, did she do any hits? I just sort of had the TV on, I wasn't paying attention It was kind of one of those Oh, okay, it's Madonna, I know What was her look? Um Pretty regular Yoga mom was nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing outrageous or anything No, well nevermind, so I think it was when the sun was out, so I don't know Anyway, you guys ready for another tune? Yes, we'll play it a song called Graffiti Oh We're not to know I can't take anymore
I'm right out of vision I'm right out of hope You scared me off Just enough me down I want on your caution Sure not that I've been to my time I'll do the feet You sing to me in fresh What are we doing here Through all my senses You're dead I find your mouth As you walk with me Take care of who As you cross the ring Hold back to the door I've let it up to you And I've lost my vision I've lost my hope You wet me off Just hand me down
You've lost your patience There's nothing happens in my time I'll do the feet See if you sing to me in fresh What are we doing here Through all my senses You're dead You're dead You're dead On the foreign trip We're dead Oh Oh We're dead I'll do the thing to give you safe to be afraid But what I'll be doing here if no one mind sees it dead
I'm talking about on the foreign trip The weapon of hope will I need time to live It's 90.3 and 91.7k exp If you're just tuning in you're listening to maximum park live here at the studio That is graffiti from the new album a certain trigger And they're playing tonight at the crocodile And earlier I was asking about melody The songs that you're writing is the lyric I was kind of wondering who was participating in writing of the lyrics And the music is it pretty much you Paulers at the band Well the lyrics tend to come from me I mean some of the songs is a fun it we formed in a very funny way The band were together for about a year before I joined and there had three or four songs Which now they're still remaining and we're on the album Certain lyrics fragments of what was left over
And the best ones were sort of other ones that I could associate with I should say were the ones that remain on the record But apart from that it tends to be my sickening worldview But I mean anybody in the band can write a song and bring it to the table And that's the way that we work I mean that's the whole ethos behind maximum park that we all have a voice within the band And I think most importantly the maximum park sound comes from the arrangements When we're all in a room together we're all picking on each other and saying Can we raise the game a little? Can we try this? And people are always working towards getting the final results I mean it's much more of a collaborative effort But yeah, I mean somebody comes to the table with a song You know and mostly I mean on this album don't consider it in a fair amount of the tunes On his lovely guitar And so yeah It is lovely every time he takes it out of his out of its boxes He's very proud of it and I wish I had one But anyway
No, I'm not that far see about it Yeah, it's important No, I think that's the thing with maximum park It's one of those, it's a bunned way, we're all in it together It definitely sounded like the band certainly on the music There's a collaboration on the songs, the music And I do have to say yeah, that when a rick of backer comes out, you know It's like whoa, stand back from this man here This is great, this is a maximum park live at KEXP And the playing tonight at the Crocodile Cafe And I think you guys are going to do one more tune And yeah, then we'll let you get outside for moving on down the street To easy street records at 3pm Well, we'll do some called going missing And thanks very much for listening everybody My body would think it's been I don't think you don't tell my sins in the bottom
You don't act like you can't as a surprise Nobody being in the look into these eyes This can't go on the source, you just regret it, regret it, regret it And even though I let you all forget it, forget it, forget it I'm going missing for you while I've got nothing left to lose Oh, I don't listen to anything I still remember how you proved and I tasted your sense Upon my lips, well how it started, I remember no one now I reached about it, it's just can't go on the source
You just regret it, regret it, regret it And even though I let you all forget it, forget it, forget it I'm going missing for you while I've got nothing left to lose Oh, I don't listen to anything I'm going missing for you while I've got nothing left to lose Oh, I don't listen to anything And if you ever want to wear your body out, you can still There's nothing left to explain the right big eye To push you away, spend a night and go to soon again I'm going missing for you while I've got nothing left to lose Oh, I don't listen to anything
I've got nothing in defense, I've got nothing left to lose Oh, I don't listen to anything I sleep with my hands across my chest, not a dream of you With some water left It's 90.3 KEXP, that's going missing from Maximo Park live here at KEXP Another great tune from their album, a certain trigger
Thanks so much for coming in this afternoon No problem, we're going to let you go and they're going to be at easy street records at three And tonight at the crocodile and have a safe trip home Cheers, thanks for that, thanks so much This is 90.3 KEXP Seattle This is 90.3 KEXP Seattle
