It's 90.3 FM, KXV Seattle, and that band was built to spill. My name is John Richards. This is the local show called audioasis, and I am sitting in the studios of KXV, the performance space because Leela is ready to play, so I'm going to give it up to them. It's Leela, live, and the local show audioasis on KEXV. You don't seem overturned in shot of his side! He's down again for the time-
He's able to Western mind on mine, but I can't see that because I want cows, children, So do you say I want to decide, you know, cause it's all in my hand Run, save me again, again, I will die We've got you in the house, cause I find you feeling better than I won't be But I'm tired and I'm fine, I'm fine, working against me Cause I want something to stay away from my mind But I won't see something to stay away from my mind
I found the reason to feel my problems, I've been with this all in my hand We've got you dicks and it's well better than I am, I love this time Gonna be cool now, better just to go with this all in my hand I want something to stay away from my mind I want something to stay away from my mind I want something to stay away from my mind
I found the reason to feel my problems, I've been with this all in my hand I want something to stay away from my mind I want something to stay away from my mind I want something to stay away from my mind
I want something to stay away from my mind I want something to stay away from my mind I want something to stay away from my mind
I want something to stay away from my mind and tonight, just one band tonight. They're so good, we couldn't have another band come in. They're taken over. They're called Lila and I'm so happy to have me here tonight. Been a little while since you were in last. I remember it. I don't remember the date. About a year and a half ago. Thank you very much. I got very good. I'm bad with dates and names. It's terrible. And numbers and passwords. November 20th, thank you Tom. Our engineer always on type of things.
Lila here, and if you'd like to introduce everyone in the band, you got a mic. Yeah, sure. And what they play, what they do when you're banned. Yeah. Well, maybe just what they play. I would say, yeah. It's probably that's another story. My name's TJ. I do vocals in guitar. And then there's Michael who does lead guitar. That's me. And then there's Neil who does bass and background. And then there's Tyler in the background doing drums. We got sound great as usual. And we have the one full leg from Lila. And I got a demo from these guys a little while back. And just one of those demos you get, and you go excellent, man. I am glad I got this. You get a ton of stuff. And that one just shot out of me right away. And I love it. Been playing the hell out of it. And of course, I get tons of people asking the obvious question, where can I find this? Which is good. That's a good thing. But I have to tell them, well, it's a demo. It makes me look cool, because I have a demo and everything. But then they get fast, because they can't get in store. So tell us a little bit about what your plans are. You have the one record out, which came out 2001, I believe. And now working on new material. Yeah, we're working on a lot of new material lately. And we have a bunch of new songs.
We're going to go and record. Just continue to record more songs. We're going to go in next week and just punch them out and see what happens. Hopefully, we get enough to pick from for an album and hopefully that sounds great. Well, the three I have are just excellent. So it's a good sign of things to come. I'm hoping. And let's just follow the part up. Three. In which case, I have one more of your works. EP, stick with that. No, I'm sure the following could be great. So you have plans recording. Are you talking to certain producers? Are you talking to certain studios? Or is it still writing songs? We've basically got every that all lined up in terms of that. We're working with our buddy, Jeff Ott, who did some stuff on our last record. And recording it his studio and another one, which I can some drums. I feel good about the songs. Compare, I mean, obviously you are. But compared to the last album, do you see growth? Do you see a different direction? Oh, definitely. Yeah. Is it a bigger? Is it a lot? Is it a different sound? Or is there something different for sure? Yeah. We're going for maybe a bigger sound where I'm out here. It is heavier. Yeah, I think we're here. Decided we're a rock band. And what should it be?
When you do that, though, you say, OK, we're going to be heavier. And then it happens, or do you go into write these songs and say, well, these have to be heavier? Well, they don't come out heavier. Can I just turn on a guitar and me by myself and a room or something? And then they bring it to these guys, and then it turns out much heavier. Yeah, like screw that. We're making it loud. TJ writes opera, and then we turn it in the metal. Well, it seems to be working. You have music that you're working on, and a sight, it says here, under construction, indeed. So Lila is under construction right now. Yes. The website and the band. OK, good. We're going to do another one, and I believe this one's untitled. No, even named. That's how new the songs are. We're getting here from Lila. It's Lila. They are live on a local show. It's called audio-a-o-a-sis. It's an hour. Zoom, let love you sing when you take, now, and you put it in the air.
Say, now, only good dream, all I hate, now, physical sounds, now, can't let go of you standing on me. But I won't be open, I love you, baby, yeah. And kids, stay, stay, but I'll cry for the faith, can't, see them in love. Yes, I can't, I can't, but I can't be just visible, say, I can't let go of you standing on me. Because I won't be open, I can't, I can't,
no split, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, but I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, i can't, you can't, It's not a point through FM, KXP, audio waste is Lila in the studios of KXP and an
untitled song from a new album yet to be titled and yet to be made. That's how new we get. So yeah, you hand me a demo, I've got to have you up here since possible, but that just means when the new album comes out, you'll be up again. And that's right. So Lila's in here and TJ, do you know Jeff Barnes at all from? Yes. Very, your vocals finally hit me, remind me not, you look a little bit like Jeff by, he's used to be in Carmine, he's a number 13 baby, and a very fine individual. And you, well, let's say something very, no, I shouldn't say that. He loves a pipe. Anyway, I'm just saying. I'm just saying, I'm just saying, he has a kid, but you know, it relaxes him. Sorry Veronica.
Sorry Veronica. They're very good people and good friends of mine, but I'm in that a good way too. It just reminded me of it. I wouldn't say it's exactly like, but you hate to, I hate making comparisons, but it's just reminding me, I go, yeah, you let me get Jeff Barnes a little. Yeah, I get the little bit. You do? Yeah. Similar, maybe you guys are related. Yeah, maybe Jeff says it. He's just jealous because he's in a cover band now. And he's aging. Good cover band. Just joking. We got Lila up here. It's speaking of shows, you guys got anything we can sell or you're just working on the new record and that's that. We're hitting the studio, like I think a week from Sunday. Okay. So best not to be doing show. Yeah, indeed. So this is good. I mean, we get you right when you're working on those songs and it's a good chance to try them out. So they sound great so far. We got a couple more from you too, including the one I always play the hell out of that sad song, I like that a lot. Obviously. It's pretty obvious when I go for one song. I wonder if he's going to play any others from that. Do the other suck or is it? They're all very good. We got a couple more from Lila. They have a site that's been worked on. So it's Lila site dot com. Yeah. Very shortly in the next couple of weeks.
And shows after the record gets made and how long do you think it's going to? How long are you are in right where you are now? How long do you foresee the process of recording? We hope only your month or two. Yeah. Finish it. And then hope to get out on the road and start touring. Is it just as is it satisfying to be in their recording or is this a band that like, man, we got to get on stage. Are you getting to see in the studio? Yeah. I love recording. I love the way it turns out, you know, the song turns out. Yeah. After you've heard it in practice and live after a while. But I love recording it. But I love playing because that's the best part of it. Yeah. I would think so. That way you're in a band really. That's right. Exactly. What got you guys together, by the way? When did Lila form? I think I asked that last time you were up. But it's been a long time. Is there a good story or is it just we just found each other? Jay and Tyler brothers, the singer and drummer. Yeah. And we all grew up in T-Town to come up where you at. And that's calling out to come. Yeah. Oh my God. I think my mom was everybody's English teacher. I think.
Yeah. That's true. Wow. So you guys go away back. Yeah. Is that good or is that bad for a band? Is it is there too much history or is it it's I think it'd be good? It's pretty good. It's not because obviously you've known each other while. So it's nice to be able to swear at each other. And not have it mean anything. Not on the radio though. That's yeah. You can wait till you're done. That's fine. It's audio. This is his local show. The local band Lila. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I need you so far behind, that no one will miss You, and now that you're fine, it's all I'd like You won't you find, why don't you try and don't you try?
Why don't you try? Why don't you try? Why don't you try? I don't put this one, this year I put this one I don't put this one I shot a heart of soul Proudest time, you'd win your lies Don't you try, why don't you try Why don't you try, why don't you try Why don't you try, why don't you try I put this one, this year
In a broken world In a broken world Don't you try, why don't you try Can't even tell The symbols have waked my tongue Happy mistresses past me And never go in The symbols have waked my tongue
The symbols have waked my tongue The symbols have waked my tongue Just these can't disappear From there, I should go To the eye, I'm in a sharp eye For all, I feel that I want a blue To the eye, I'm in a broken world To the eye, I'm in a sharp eye To the eye, I'm in a sharp eye To the eye, I'm in a sharp eye I'm in a sharp eye I'm in a sharp eye Why don't you try, why don't you try This game, did you have something here?
And then I'm your yeah And then I'm your yeah Just some of you still don't care And then I'm your yeah I don't know I don't know Oh, I'm too young to stand around I fell and I just know Oh, I'm too young to stand around Oh, I'm too young to stand around
