It's 90.3, KEXP here in Seattle, I'm Stevie Zoom. That was a request for neutral milk hotel in the aeroplane over the sea. And right now we are ready for some live music in our studio. We have the band annuals, who are here, all the way from North Carolina, correct? Yes, North Carolina. And played last night at the U of Benefit. Yes, we did. How did that go? It's wonderful. Quite fun. Great. Well, you're here in this room is fully loaded right now. So Adam, if you'd like to introduce the band or however you want to do things here before we start hearing some music, well, we're annuals and we're going to play with a song, I'll complete your complaining, then a few more for that. Yeah. Okay, go ahead. Music from annuals here at 90.3, KEXP. Music from annuals here at 90.3, KEXP.
pokemon my hair now and now, and now my hair Life Music here at 90.3, K-E-X-P, you're listening to the band
and that is the song complete or completing from their debut full-length album, B, He, Me, and again, thanks for playing the Yule benefit, the K-E-X-P, Yule benefit last evening, and stopping by here this afternoon before you move on down the road, where are you headed from here? Denver Colorado. Denver, well, you don't have to be there tonight, right? Alright, this is a pretty interesting debut album. You have a lot going on, there's a lot of instrumentation here. A lot of music and a lot of ideas going on on that new release. It seems like there must have been a lot of writing. Do you pretty much handle all that atom or is there a lot of collaboration going on?
I don't know a lot of it, but there's a lot of arranging help, obviously. I can't do it all on my own. But yeah, when it comes to the writing pretty much, I handle that, but still a group effort. Yeah, it seems it have to be some group effort there with so many people and a lot of instruments going on. Most definitely. Can you give us a little bit of the background on the band and how long you've been together now and how it formed to this point? I guess we started out half of us. We've been playing together for about seven or eight years. We started out in a punk band when we were 13 or 12 or something, and we just kept playing together. And then the other half of us got together around three years ago. And I guess we just started playing and that's just pretty much kind of a ball from there. Everybody's sort of, most people start off playing the punk band stuff. And then it kind of goes either that direction or something else totally different. All right, and the other thing that's going on here in this room that our listeners don't get to see is there's a lot of moving around and changing of instruments,
which has been going on while we've been talking. And I think you're set up now for the next one. Almost, I've got to go there. Okay, we have another movement here, and it's also kind of a balancing actor moving around in between everything and that tripping over stuff. So again, the bands from Raleigh and the band as annuals, and they're ready for another song live here at 90.3, K-E-X-P. Yes, sir. And because I'm coins, I rise, there's ponies under. I'm slim doing, my baby is born, I wish I would be elastic. Oh, this is boost gates inside. And we'll fall in the sleep of possible folks for our time
While I've done my thing, I'll explain how I'll probably get the first of life in our eyes to play the night to play the night to play the night to live You'd flashing The arms of light The lights of your seats got beat all around
I'm gonna be your only one The black and the skin is coming in I'll be the only one The black and the skin is coming in It's coming the only one To fall in support, Canada, silverware The black and the skin is coming in the only one The white and the bottom The silverware and the silverware The white and the bottom The white and the bottom The white and the bottom The white and the bottom It's 90.3, K-E-X-B here in Seattle
You're listening to live music from the group annuals And the new album, again, the debut album is called The debut album is called Be He Me, that song was Ida, My And more moving around, I always like that To coordinate things All right, and you guys are headed to Denver from here How about you guys ready for 2007? As we're almost done with this year We're very excited for it What kind of plans will the band have? I think there's some, well, yeah, well, Christmas We're gonna be hanging out at home 2007 is definitely gonna be some Europe stuff going on We're excited about as well as just more touring of the country Yeah, we're touring with the deers Yeah, we're doing a deers tour, that's what we're kicking it off with But we're still figuring out the rest of the year right now You mentioned Europe, I heard, or I don't know if it's already happened Or if it's the upcoming, you did some shows with the flaming lips Yeah, you did do those, it's amazing, yes, they were great Pretty amazing, inspiring to say the leaves They're the nicest guys in the entire world Well, they are, yes, we've had a chance to have them here in this studio, which is pretty nice
And just from me as an audience member It's amazing to watch them and to listen And they're really nice, but I'm sure from Europe You've got a different perspective, you know, being on the tour with them Well, they let us dress up in costumes and dance on stage That's good, you've got to participate in all that They're amazing people It's always an audience member, you know I wonder who's in that costume Now we know it could be anybody in some of the band members You guys ready for the next song? Yeah Everybody ready? Yes, yes, yes, yes You've got to hold girl with all you are You've got to hold girl with all you are
You've got to hold girl with all you are What a single soul makes me Oh, say come in truth Where is the whole world, oh, oh You've got to hold girl with all you are Girl with all of you, oh I always have no more time Yeah, I've always had no more time I've always had no more time Yeah, I've always had no more time

So we're gonna run, Oman's I know for time, yes we'll run our time. it's over right It's 90.3, K-E-X-P, live music in our studio. We've got the band annuals who are here.
And thanks again for playing the K-E-X-P, you will benefit last evening. That song right there is called River Run. It's on their debut full length album, B, He, Me. Actually, if I can correct you, that one is on our EP. Oh, sorry about that, man. Gotcha. You got me on that one, because I don't have your CD in front of me right now. We're going to send that one too. We don't have copies right now, but sorry. This is a lot out. Well, that's good. Well, that's good. Yeah. That's a good thing when it sells out. Anyway, I was curious from the, on the new album here, I'm sure you guys probably have a lot of demos and everything set up and then from the demos to the finished product. Did it go pretty smoothly? Did you kind of have an idea that the finished product was going to sound like this? Yeah, it actually went really smoothly because we did a lot of the recording and tracking and mixing ourselves along towards the tail end of the project. We got a mixer named producer named Mickey Petrellia, who worked on my favorite back record midnight vultures. And we went out to California and he sort of cleaned it up because we had a very unorthodox
way of setting up our sessions and stuff. Yeah, it went pretty smoothly because we pretty much know generally how to put a session together, just not in a very organized way. We're good at setting it up so that we can understand it, but we learned a lot of lessons as far as what we need to do, or occasionally with recording to make it so other people can kind of get in and are craziness. Yeah. How did you get hooked up with Mickey to do that? Friend of ours named Dave Ayers. Yeah. Yeah. All right. And you did that again. You said in Los Angeles? Yes. All right. So I was kind of like having an overseer toward the end and also away from home a little bit. Most definitely. Yeah. So that worked out. Yeah. That's good to hear. That's the perfect way to do it. All right. You guys ready for one more tune? Yes, sir. Good to go. I love you.
This is my brother. I'm a child. I'm a child. My brother. My father. My brother. My father. My brother. My brother. I'm sorry. Ooh, come on, Ooh, we'll bring back our voice to Mother. Come on, come on, come on, come on.
I've come down and the treatment of the world and its face I've made you. She's got a control right now. I tried right out! Ooh! Now I'm cold, oh Lord, I should have stayed with your brother I'm cold. I'm cold, oh Lord, oh Lord, oh Lord, oh Lord.
Oh, oh Lord, oh Lord, oh Lord, oh Lord. It's 90.3 K-E-X-P here in Seattle. You've been listening to live music from the group annuals. That is the song Brother, which around here is definitely been getting the most attention. And again, thanks very much for playing the K-E-X-P. You will benefit last evening. Our pleasure. And again, the new debut album B-H-E-Me. Good luck on your travels to Denver.
Thank you. And good luck next year. I want to say thanks to our engineer James for coordinating all the sound going on. Thank you James! And again, thanks to everybody in the band. This is annuals and this is 90.3 K-E-X-P Seattle. Thank you. Thank you.
