I'm so scared I'm so scared I'm so scared Reading up about you guys and I am a parenthetical girls fan. So the climaxes that happen in those songs like how dramatic they are, I am very drawn to it and I know that other fans of the music are drawn to it as well, so maybe that's where that question stems from.
Yeah, I mean, I think both Jerrick and I have been kind of involved with parenthetical girls since real early in that band and have done stuff on the records and sometimes played live and I think that we've all kind of developed together and like a lot of these kinds of music ideas or musical vocabulary might be kind of like somewhat shared between all those bands too. I mean, I wish you, it's like we were friends from before either of our first records came out when both of our bands kind of first started like nine years ago or something like that. Yeah. And I think that we both dug and valued a lot of things about each other's bands and that it was kind of like this healthy sort of cross pollination over the years or whatever. Yeah. So I think yeah, all those groups have kind of developed parallel, but definitely, you know, with a lot of blood sharing. Yeah. So billionaire is the latest release that came out in 2008 and you guys had a very big celebration
for that was a week-long celebration, happened all around Seattle different places. How did you guys come up with that? And could you go into some specifics about the events that had happened? Yeah. It was called the billionaire festival of culture. It was from a Monday through Friday and we wanted to be like a full work week of ill cultural domination. And yeah, the events the first night was a big dance party at this Haitian restaurant in town that I used to DJ at and do nights at, called Wades. It was a big party there and we shot a video for a couple of songs from billionaire that night and zombie video. And then I might not remember the order of everything. But then there was, I did a lecture at Gallery 1412 about a lot of sort of dramatic stuff kind of related to what's on the record.
We did a big thing at Northwest Film Forum where we showed some different films of other performance works and stuff that I was involved in. I know that we were all involved in that also was kind of related to the content on billionaire. We did a big visual art show where our friends actually round and Tom Chappell did a bunch of stuff at the Vermillion Gallery like a big installation. Also sort of stuff related to billionaire but more just to kind of do stuff that they wanted to do that was like slightly villain related. There's like a big shredder and stuff like that. And then the last night was a show at, who was a Monday through Friday at all. And my scratch that, I think it was like Wednesday to Sunday or something. The last night was a show of new moves. And that was real fun. We got to have all of our friends that played on the record to all of in town on it. So we had like a string. He said in the horn section and harpist and our friend Morgan, Anderson playing keyboards and stuff. I thought it was a very great way of celebrating the release. And so it felt it was celebratory for sure.
So you guys have been together for since 2003? Is that correct? I've been together since about the year 2000. Year 2000. Yeah, my first encounter with you guys was on the mass transit compilation. There's a sweet science song in the day, man. Mm-hmm. And you guys have a couple more songs. We should get back into it. Sure. The Dead Science Live on KEXV's audio aces. Thank you, Shelley.
