Come on and zoom-a-zoom-a-zoom-a-zoom. I'm Chris. I'm Jennifer. I'm Juan. I'm Acadio. I'm Karen. I'm LaBelle. I'm Nell. Who are you? What do you do? How are you? Let's hear from you. We need you. Won't you zoom, zoom, zoom-a-zoom? Come on and zoom-a-zoom-a-zoom, zoom-a-zoom. I'm gonna give it a try We're gonna reach for the sky You can help us survive Hey!
I sure hope the rain keeps up Why? Why? So it won't come down. Ladies and gentlemen, we present high above the sawdust ring, poetry in motion, 12-year-old Miss Denise La Graza. At this performance today, and at this performance only, let's welcome the boy that fear forgot, 15-year-old Master Mark Pilgrim. Mark and I have a great job.
Denise, hi. Morning, morning. Denise and I are acrobats at Circus World Museum. Circus World is an old-fashioned circus. It's a museum with old artifacts from different circuses from all around the world just like it was in the old days. it's not all cherry pie because we have a lot of chores to do before the people get there denise you and mark get the colt feed it to milk sweep the barn out we got to get all those mules worse before the training show want the elephants to have a bale of hay and water the petting zoo right now I just happen to have it right here, a deck of cards.
Would you hold that for me? The people who work at the Circus Royal Museum do work very hard. They're professionals, and they like what they're doing. You saw how I did that. That's no fair. Watch it again. Just like that. Oh, I didn't see it then. That's as soon as somebody says, I know how to do it, then you have to be one step ahead of them, you do it again when you're different, and you're a fool. I like the little glitter on the nose. The glitter on the end of the nose, yeah. Who made that up? Well, all clowns sometime in their life dabble with glitter. And I didn't really like a lot of glitter. I just put it on the end of my schnoz. Sometime you'll catch a kid come up and go, can I touch that? And before he says touch it, he's got his finger on it. And it's all over. It's a rough life, but it's fun. You get sawdust in your shoes and you can't get it out. You have to stay with it. We saw the ad in the newspaper that said, acrobatic school, anybody who wants to join, come down to the Circus Row Museum and sign your name up.
think what you're doing up all right okay let's do it good today if we do it good today we'll do it in the show pretty soon are you ready okay mark pull her up that away now get on there good and solid okay got it pull her up mark this is the last trick remember this is a spectacular remember now you let go on this trick on the cloud swing at the top of your height and you just let it go fly in the air if you don't you're gonna hurt your legs understand yep are you afraid no yes you are but do it anyway all right now now oh that's the time let's go Okay, here we are.
Now, that's all right. Okay, that's pretty good. A little too early, though. That's all right. Now, that's the last number. Now, make your bow as you come out. Let's see what it looks like. Let's see what it looks like. Come on. Snap it down. Up, there you go. Hey, all right. I like it. That wasn't bad. Yeah, I did it. And then in the show, you're going to scream. Did you know that? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, you don't just smile. You scream. You let everybody know you. Hey! And then they'll scream with you. That's what people come to the circus for, for the thrills today at this performance we present high above the sawdust ring poetry in motion and the swing single trapeze let's welcome the boy that fear forgot 15 year old master mark I don't think I have any special talents. I usually just practice and after I learn the trick, I do it over and over and then I can put it into my hand.
I think acrobatics is dangerous because you're risking a lot of the things that you wouldn't normally do every day. Ladies and gentlemen, Mark will now attempt a very dangerous complete back free fall to an ankle catch. Let all eyes be upon Master Mark Pilgrim. Master Mark Pilgrim!
It is a kid's dream to be in the circus, to be right under the spotlight, people watching you and doing your tricks. I think I'll always want to stay around the circus. Welcome to Zoom Views and Weather. Our reports come from around the country, straight from you. Each week, Zoom says you can help help us to fly high. Today's reports show how Zoom viewers really do help. Jennifer? Thank you, Chris. Beth Cotenf of Middletown, New Jersey invented a way we can pretend to fly high. She says, what you do is take a very big, big piece of paper and cut it so it looks like a jet. Make slits in the arms and put it on. Get in a pogo stick and make it sound like an airplane. Then jump with a pogo stick. Now? Thanks, Jennifer.
Kate Easter-Shell lives in Saginaw, Michigan. She told us her view in a poem. A robin sits on a branch like a feather in rain, shine, or any kind of weather. Open your eyes and see him. Open your ears and hear him. Open your imagination and fly with him. A cardio? Thanks, Nell. Well, Regina Allen from East St. Louis, Illinois, feels very strongly about this issue. She writes, nobody has to teach you to fly high when you are brave and try to do new things. That is when you are flying high. Back to you, Chris. Thanks, Icardio, and thank you, Zoom viewers. There are many ways to fly high. It all depends on what you want to do. And now the weather, Ron. Zoom asks kids around the country whether they know what they would do if they could do anything in the world. Try to clean up New York.
I get money and I buy all food in the world so I could be safe. Get a horse and I live on a farm. I have a whole lot of money. I think I'd write books. Be an actress. I guess I'd make everybody in the world happy. But not happy all the time because I would be boring. Maybe, like, stay out in the woods for a year or something. Swim. Travel. Get married. Make fees. That's today's Zoom views and weather. Zoom flies high because of your letters and ideas. Send them to Zoom. Box 350, Boston, Mass., 02134. And don't forget your self-addressed stamped envelope. How many envelopes? Send us two. Oh, a big one for Zoom and a small one for you. Put your name on the small one, your house and your street, and your city and state. Hey, that's neat. But where's the stamp? You almost forgot. That's very important. Yeah, thanks a lot. The bigger one's easy.
You know what to do. Stuff everything in it and then rush it to... To Zoom, we double O-M, box three by box. Boston, that's all, two, one, three, four. Send it to Zoom! Lavelle, you missed school yesterday, didn't you? Nope, didn't miss it a bit. Doom, doom, doom, do-a-zoom-doo, do-a-zoom-doo, do-a-zoom-doo. You can make a grocery bag kite and find most of the materials you need right at home. First, you need a grocery bag. Then, what you do is you take a scissors and you cut off the bottom of the bag. Then, work on the side of the bag with the seam. Make a mark about one-third of the way down from the top and draw lines from the mark out to the corners of the bag.
Cut the bag along these lines. Fold up the creases on both sides like this and staple them. These are the wings of the kite. Punch holes in these corners. Then, take gum reinforcements and put one around each hole on either side. This makes the kite strong.
Believe it or not, your kite is done. Now, all you have to do is string up your kite so it'll look like this. If you want a Zoom card that shows you how to make a grocery bag kite, write to Zoom and send us a self-addressed stamped envelope. Doom, doom, doom, do-a-zoom-doo. Do-a-zoom-doo, do-a-zoom-doo. Did you learn that your house is burning down? Don't worry. I have enough wood in the attic to build a new one. We're gonna roll out the barrel and to find out what's inside today. Brian Barnett from Dallas, Texas sent us this letter. Dear Zoom, tell a friend that you can put him in such a position that he will be unable to lift his right foot from the floor
even though the foot is free. All right, Angel. What? How do you do it? That's high. All right. All right. Just come over here. What? Put your left cheek. Oh, what's going on? Just stand up. All right. Put your left cheek and your left foot on the board. Lean it against. Like that? No. No, and your leg. Oh, like that. No, all right, like that. Now try to lift that, your right foot. Lift your cheek against the board. Uh-oh. I've done it here. It's impossible. Oh. It's hard. You can't hold it. You can't hold it. Wow, that looks hard. I mean, it is hard. How about this way? I can't do it this way. I can't do it this way. Throw your weight over it. I can't. Can we try? Do your whole side. Yeah, I know.
And your leg. I know. My leg is the whole thing. No, see, this side has to be... That's the problem. your whole weight so it's really it is impossible unless you're really fat oh holy let me try let me try for ballet it's easy i'm gonna try let me try it let me try it to run not long enough you have to straight up it's impossible it's impossible you try it Straight up. Did you? It's impossible. Wait a minute. I can get it. Huh? It's impossible. It's hard because all you have... I've got to try this. I'll try it after you. Cheat a little. Hold on. Nobody's going for this. Chris is going to fix me. Chloe. Chloe told me. Take a slow. I can't... No, you can't. I can't get enough weight over there.
All right, Lavelle. Come on, Lavelle can do it. Come on, Lavelle. No, you got to get your legs. You got to get your right side of your foot. I thought he really did. You can't. It really isn't possible. I can't do it. Thank you. we're going off color the one over there looks good yeah all right that matches that's about a body weight big and bad well we'd have to get as a pair of
Extend this one. Or this one. Or those. Great. That's beautiful. Perfect with the shoes. Great. Fantastic. Look at the shoes. I know. How about a wig? Yeah. We need a wig. A green hat that'll go with the shirt. We have a green hat. With the shirt, right. Perfect. That's good. Looks great. That looks terrific. Look at this. Now for the face. as everybody knows in future meetings of the clown club we will be learning about mimes and gestures props and gags magic and many other facets of clowning but today's workshop is on makeup now there are four basic types of makeup there is the white face the august which has a flesh-colored base the tramp the fourth is a character clown and this is limited only by your imagination first step in getting made up everyone with glasses should take them off After that, everyone should clear their hair from the face area.
Everybody all set? Let's go to work. And don't forget on the white faces, make sure you cover your ears, your throat and the back of your neck. What you do is you take three fingers and just pat.
And you'll see that you'll be lifting up a lot as well as making it firmer. There are two main types of powdering. One, that's the powder puff. There are some people who do use the sock. That's the most ridiculous thing I ever saw.
We'll be right back. Do you ever get tired of the same old face? Then why not learn to make a clown face? Right Zoom. Box 350, Boston, Mass. 0, 2, 1, 3, 4. it's easy to design your own clown face we have some helpful hints on a zoom card if you want one
right to zoom and be sure to send a self-addressed stamped envelope Here's how to make Zoom soup. What you need first is a Zoom zoo. You can make animals out of any kind of vegetables you want. But the most important ingredient is your imagination. Whoops. How do you like my octopus? I made it out of a tomato, string beans, and clothes for the eyes. You can make a swordfish out of an onion and clothes for the eyes. You can make a wheel out of zucchini squash and a slit for the mouth and a toothpick for spout.
You can make a snake out of carrots and clothes for the eyes. And you can also make a lion made out of potatoes, parsley for the mane, and celery stick for your tail. Your Zoom Zoo can decorate a table for a party or a kitchen for a while. And now the soup. Boil about two and a half quarts of water in a big pot. Take out all the toothpicks in the animals. Chop up the large pieces of vegetables and put them all in the pot. You can add spaghetti, bouillon cubes, or spices if you like. Cook them all in the pot for about an hour. Then you have your Zoom soup. Ho Tan, have a good meal. Waburabi abisabi tabu tabu tabu abu fabit nabait.
Abu wabbel. Atz gabu rabin tabu tabu mabit kibber fabis habu fabi abu yabier. Gray skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face. Brush off the clouds and cheer up, put on a happy face. Take off the gloomy mask or tragedy It's not your style You look so good that you'll be glad you decided to smile Pick out a pleasant outlook Stick out that noble chin Wipe off that full of doubt look Slap on a happy grin And spread sunshine all over the place Just put on a happy face Put on a happy face
Put on a happy face And if you're feeling cross and bickerish Don't sit and whine Think of banana splits and licorice And you'll feel fine I knew a girl so gloomy, she'd never laugh or sing. She wouldn't listen to me, now she's a mean old thing. So spread sunshine all over the place, just put on a happy face. Grey skies are gonna clear up
Put on a happy face Brush off the clouds and cheer up Put on a happy face Spread your sunshine all over the place Just put on a happy face We need you, so won't you zoom, zoom, zoom-a-zoom Come on and zoom-a-zoom-a-zoom-a-zoom I wanna give it a try We're gonna reach for the sky
