Description
Program Description
THE RESOLUTION OF MOSSIE WAX is a 90-minute original television drama written especially for WITF-TV by Stephen Foreman. In the program, which portrays the plight of the elderly poor, an old woman tries to retain her independence in the face of her husband's death and the loss of her income. It dramatizes her fights to exist within the 'system' while maintaining her dignity. "The program was produced as part of a series which used a number of television formats and techniques to examine poverty and public assistance in America. THE RESOLUTION OF MOSSIE WAX is one of two of those programs which employed drama. The program was produced entirely on videotape and for the most part 'on location,' utilizing the South Central Pennsylvania area. "Kate Harrington, who portrays the title character, is most prominent among the cast; she is remembered for her portrayal of the mother in the Warner Bros. film, 'Rachel, Rachel.'"-- 1972 Peabody Awards entry form.
