Description
Program Description
"'Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward' is a one-hour local documentary about an old warehouse district in the city that has suddenly become hip and trendy. Its converted loft apartments, little shops, quaint restaurants and committed merchants are responsible for property values skyrocketing more than forty percent in the past two years! Every big city in America has aging districts like this, just waiting for someone or something to breathe new life into them. The producer of this program gives people a tour which highlights this transformation. He reacquaints viewers with an old neighborhood that most of the city had given up on only a few years ago. This is a creative, original and well produced example of what local TV does best. It tells people about the place they call home. This is a country of neighborhoods, and this program shows us an interesting one. "In the past three years, Dan Jones has produced three different local documentaries about very different Milwaukee neighborhoods. Mr. Jones and a single videographer, both Milwaukee natives, have put together programs that are compelling, honest and entertaining."--1998 Peabody Awards entry form.
