"For over twenty years Mark Russell has presented his humorous, one-man, bi-monthly report on the state of national politics, societal concerns and the health of the nation over the Public Broadcasting Service. "He is the only political humorist who has offered a view of the ironies and absurdities confronting viewers in song parody and jest completely written by himself. Important to the presentation is the fact that the programs are telecast live in order to be as timely as possible. His humor is as up-to-the-minute as the news itself. It is delightfully perceptive, cunningly artful and most often on target, but without malice, and always with an effort to be fair to all sides involved in the subject at hand. "Mark Russell informs and stimulates serious contemplation while providing an entertaining and brighter light on most issues. His humor requires the viewer to be knowledgeable, perhaps to rethink his attitude on particular events. He is not didactic or mean-spirited. His programs have been consistently among the highest rated national programs on PBS as proof of his popularity.
