"'THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH' is a twelve part radio series conceived of and adapted by Wendy Loeff from Norton Juster's award winning children's book. "It tells the story of Milo, a young boy whose guest for challenge and adventure bring him to a land called The Kingdom of Wisdom. In chapter five or 'An Unusual Point of View', Milo and his two traveling companions, Tock the Watchdog, and a huge beetle like insect known as Madame Humbug, arrive at The Forest of Sight. "Each of the fifteen minute episodes uses a different musical score to highlight the action. This chapter combines the music of Carl Orff, Mahler and Rossini. "This program is designed for children 8 and older and their parents to enjoy together. "The characterizations for 'THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH' were done by actors with The Chicago Council on Fine Arts, Artists-in-Residence program. "Technical and engineering staff was provided by WBEZ Radio. "The program was made possible by a grant from the Illinois Art Council."--1980 Peabody Awards entry form.
