Series Description
"Bloopy is a friendly, costumed character who teaches children self esteem as well as the importance of exercise, nutrition and health. Some of his buddies are a doctor, safety expert and a chef. Comedian/actor Jonathan Winters is a frequent guest on the program where he appears in a variety of different characters - aimed to entertain as well as instruct. "'Bloopy's Buddies' merits Peabody consideration because the series addresses a serious concern for preschool children overlooked by most children's programs: the issues of good health and importance of nutrition and [exercise]. Throughout each half-hour program, Bloopy leads children in 'Bloopycise' segments where viewers at home are encouraged to get off the couch and exercise to music. The series also promotes the B.E.L.L. philosophy Be Well, Eat Well, Live Well, Learn Well, by teaching children self esteem comes from both a healthy mind and body."--1996 Peabody Awards entry form.
