BLOUD In a few moments from Jordan Hall, the Symphony No. 2 Op. 61 of Robert Schumann. This work was composed in 1845, 46, and given its first performance at a Gavond House concert in Leibzig on November 15, 1846. The scoring is for two flutes, two obos, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns and two trumpets, three trombones, timpani and strings.
The four movements, Sostenuto Asai, Allegro Manon Tropo, Scerzo Allegro Vivace, 301 and 302, the third movement, and Adagio Espresivo, and finally Allegro Molto Vivace. Here now is Gunther Schueller, our guest conductor for tonight's performance. We will hear the Conservatory Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 2 in C Major Op. 61.
