You're listening to Music by Don Gillis. Greetings, friends. This is Don Gillis saying welcome once again to another edition of Music by DG, and this week it's the next to the very last time this season that I'll be able to say that the National Educational Radio Network and so forth are happy and so on to bring you, well you know, the rest of my opening announcement. This being true, it naturally follows that next week is the end of it all, and so I would appreciate all of us having a goodless supply of handkerchiefs on hand to wipe up the tears and stifle the racking sobs, but that's next week. This week we have Music for Band and the first of the scores we're to hear was recorded for us by the United States Army Band under the baton of Colonel Samuel Arlabota. The first of our musical numbers is titled Ballet for Band, and following that we'll
hear it's saga of a pioneer. Ballet for Band was written for use as a Ballet originally, and has been staged a time or so. However, its principal function has been as a concert piece. The general storyline of the Ballet represented the great northwestern part of the United States in the early frontier days. So with this helpful hand in both geographic area and time slot, we'll invite you to choreograph it as your own imagination sees fit, as you hear Ballet for Band. The first of our musical numbers is titled Ballet for Band and the first of our musical
numbers is titled Ballet for Band and the first of our musical numbers is titled Ballet for Band and the first of our musical numbers. .
