Missing person pick up Mary Jean adopted a mother and a fiance in a bus terminal. The mother escaped but Mary Jean did not. The man was a newly paroled inmate of an institution for the criminally insane. Luckily he is back there now. The wedding invitation printer and the undertaker will have to wait. This time it is natural for a child to seek and enjoy novelty new experience excitement and surprises. Parents must be a little understanding and permissive. They might permit encourage and provide for the meeting of the child's needs in this area. The parent has to direct supervise and protect the child also so that the child does not become emotionally intoxicated overstimulated or hysterical. A lion hunt can be interesting exciting and stimulating. It ceases to be fun if the lion turns and begins to hunt the hunter. Particularly if the whole situation is not structured to provide the hunter with safety and protection. Probably what we are saying is that excitement novelty surprises can be a pleasant relief from monotony.
But they have to be checked because the child has to be protected and kept safe from injury. Might be fun for a girl to meet a stranger and just go with him. It is dangerous if the stranger is an unknown quantity. Fun could turn to panic if the stranger is discovered to be a newly paroled inmate from an institution for the criminally insane. Here to interview just such a child is father Duffy Professor of Sociology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Father Duffy A study of one hundred fifty murders that took place in Denver between 1058 and 64 showed that 46 percent of them were committed by members of the victim's family. I would guess that the next largest category of killers would be classified as strangers. Next to the home the tavern and the street are the original meeting places of murderers and their victims. I would like to suggest that we have not done enough study on the role of the stranger in the Pittsburgh Police Academy where I lecture policemen are instructed as to how they should warn children to be on the
guard against the stranger. He may want to give them something show them something. Take them somewhere without making children unduly suspicious we do warn them not to talk to strangers not to take anything not to go anywhere with them. We advise them not to be on the street at night alone not to walk in dark places not to window to vacant homes not to swim alone. We advise them to inform their parents of their whereabouts and to use their eyes. Notice facial and bodily characteristics clothing automobile license numbers recognition of danger being able to define a situation as potentially dangerous underlie all this instruction. The little girl in the interview that follows is either naive or very reckless. She violated all police warnings before she talked with stranger took a cup of coffee with him went to Philadelphia with him. Luckily the police apprehended both of them before any real tragedy ensued. This is not a nice story. I suppose the only justification for telling it is to extract the moral it contains. That is that one should not over
trust a stranger especially when alone and unprotected. Coming to learn that I did a couple I mean I'm sure you've been here before you vote. But tell me something when you're a little girl which serves. Everything's ok brother. It could be interesting when you start getting into trouble.
I love my mom says it was a little girl that I used to talk she's older than me. She should stay out there for me in there and I always wanted to. So I just I am a woman never to come home but later on I didn't stay all night. They only come home morning for many like any other and they said it was from her that really started from her she moved to California. It's just me. Because I can plainly put it compared to the person she's always with long never with anybody away from him save her you know the truth to power and then second
story cause you drive somebody else through your heart right. How do you work hard and what do I have time to do. Pops taught me a couple times because cars were a lot of talk and I was just going to. Have to run a word to
the room oh yeah I was going to. For some little time the town could generalize this with all of you. When I was kid when I was down the first time this one kid traffic from the skit but you know that I've done have thankful that from driving around over the tarmac for about three o'clock in the ring. I'm going to go home. Down
because you never get sick of people don't talk to me if I talk very very rarely have ever read your superiors and mansion in a big question and I think you know you I mean I have because I'm really embarrassed because we just let them you know and I was worried about our touch with the man who was so efficient which was taken to a certain level
it was six o'clock and I was already you know. But I knew it was going to come back to her. Yes I was changed to that which we have to wait for the Boston area. I'm so going to have to hurry and get a match and then so should she. If they ask for a ticket how should
she go because she's going to need which of them was the finest engine that had her shawl printed so I cried she cried every factor. Partly because I actually lived in Europe before it and the judge to me just like a monument from a natural again. Actually if I were to get that I knew where the kid lived there after I turned around and the mission or is it too hard for you to check it out. I guess I'll tell you this Mr. Walker was a can of them commute to work that this is going to take from it and go get somebody in a car kept fresh. I would
think of fishing in or you seem to be getting worse. This is OK. She just doesn't enjoy the second one that was about 20 20 blocks from down here to my name it was from Greenwich just like you know everything and things are running through a block away from where I work and I have time on his own. For me because back home he kept on talking to you every moment
he fired. True for me. In other words there that you can get with everyone because I'm not there with them. So where was you coming from Century but it was crazy crazy. We're going to have to think of them after that. You see the way it could have turned right. Tonight.
For you would you do it. Sure thing else to do. And to get a place to stay I mean intention. I mean sometimes but sometimes it was just the way it was just a way to get a place so that if for money you know you meet a section you honestly you know you try to tell yourself I'm good.
After talking. You know I was trying to comment on that but I do think and I thought it would be better. Because I don't have anything to live for. She says she loves me and I think I love you so much but I love him to choose to work. She rose by terror but she says she still loves work. When you go
or you think you're gonna worry sure that it was you Britain's first. How to define you when you're in the shoes of it. But he was really crazy. There are types of charge or there you know.
So I think for the first nine days I mean because it was they had to live on. And we were proven effectiveness. Or were you there voluntarily. He asked me because I was there after me. Yeah it was a I was up there when I was in a station they are detective wanted to talk to me. OK so I thought I was just a girl slipped that much. We drove to begin your I just got a shot after I tried to kill myself if you were truly crucial for Europe you're trying hard to do that. I took a clip then wrote them
pointing at pretty deep into your young lives and their rights and it worked. But that new car don't let you trigger to try to talk to him. You're trying to in fact live for me and are not in any shock and try to limit the craving In other words I guess I will become a woman heading into all the almost blacktop that actually stop everything we're going to turn everything now I was on tour I even tried running a car. But don't tell me I'm wrong. For this one pick me actually I can think about it where everything you're doing seems to be saying something what is it you treat people or people just yet you're
saying something. What is it. To Talk To Me. But I think I do. I don't wish to be a good girl so much as a competition partner. Most of the book. I'm talking about only want to cry. Thank you Larry. Right
right and everything our right. That's right. I'm sure. Probably the last time I was here for 58 today it just did come there. I was never going to come. It was not going to come because you're going to start some story and I can't. We can talk about them in the
small intimate in such a tight grip kit. And then he says I still love you as to what she was and she ask you if you love me. It was a happy ending but it was certainly important thing they ever wanted to hear. From her and she's telling them you know if you want me if you love me and only put away this time if you don't I won't talk to you should you know I'll kill you can only learn from the woman doesn't really going to be bad.
There was a year and then my dad told me he wanted me to come home. Pretty crazy. OK it was fine. Direction was for her from the moment she's work she should and I don't you know. But if she can figure she can come back but for a. Bit of time
for me it just took them like there. I think my right next best sister. But the judge Judge. And then when you know you're sure you'd rather be home with you. But just because you want to know what limits were
for what they wanted me to be in the beginning should be good for a boy and girl like I was always with you. And they will just go on and I will come to life and what will you do when you go or you do when you go somewhere. So I'm sorry I'm talking like efforts right there with the story. Mystery about to have and everybody to get down here and I mean like I was 11 I look like a star kid or to find a dumb story she was. Actually But when I watched one
dinner an hour long long didn't find out what was going on because the guy was always that way and that I was I had always thought with boys in Cartagena found out when I was 13. And ever since I was on fire nothing but thank you. Yeah but we're certain remember you know I don't know if I'm ever ashamed of me but I get a cushy life but when I was 7 I just need to grow so more. Yeah commercial for her sister. I pray for all except to have her boyfriend is older than I was. Someone had a baby for Africa. Trust me you know. Human Heart broke up when I started with him.
Yeah but he never was and the first time I was wrong we were young you know enough for him I was sure it was or was just one I wished it were because all my friends could stay out later than I could I wanted to be with them when it was really a venture for novelty change from. You can think that too. And I mean how do they think happened in the house that sprayed you with your mother. Well no it wouldn't be away from my mother being orgasmic but now I can show you here for due course for what we do. Our poor this one that I woke up remembering was screaming she heard I mean she's Carla and.
She got up at the kitchen table and was pushing on a table was reaching for the butt unified but you know I really never go in there and give them a chance to run out the back door and it was going to kill her. It was I don't know who was going to kill or not but I just didn't want to think of trying you know I was just told right. This is the letter carefully. Have you been drinking. Yeah I was drinking but still remember still almost you know this was my dad was a cricketer. Yeah but they were together so they never get to see you. So you don't have to show
us how to talk to and who are you. We're going to get her to meet my mom were. You have been listening to exploring the child's world in a program in which the child speaks.
