NDE are the national educational radio network presents special of the week. From Yale University from its series called Yale reports. If you imagine a church without walls then you imagine the whole society in which we live as being part of the service. What we are asking you to think about today is just that. Imagine wants and dancing in the streets. Think about the entertainers who are part of our lives and the frenetic quality of civilization which is our life. Then with this in mind think of a church service embracing it all. Today Yale reports presents a multimedia liturgy developed by the Gael Episcopal society you will hear parts of the first half of an electric service. In practice this is followed by the celebration of the Eucharist. The service deliberately follows the ancient classical order of the eucharistic liturgy. It begins with the invitation to penitence which is followed by the scripture and meditation. The service is an attempt to articulate and act out the movement of the liturgy by manipulating the environment in the church away from the purely rational and
verbal tradition of Western worship. The service was developed by the Reverend Ian Sagan's a festival chaplain and lecturer in church history and the Reverend John Hay associate chaplain for the Arts. You will hear some mechanical interference. This was unavoidable since parts of this program were recorded at the presentation of an actual service in the chapel of Dwight hall at Yale. The electric service. See. That's. What. It's oh.
Oh oh. Oh.
And the thing though why things are so light and new and beneath the side of the old fellow and oh look who
I love with my hand why why hanging and dying when I was. Gone. Yeah.
When the time comes to you which you will be forced at last to out of the speech which is laying at the center of your soul for years which you have all the time. Idiots like been saying over and over do not talk about joy of words. I see well why God does not speak to us openly nor letters Unser to that word can be dug out of us. Why should he hear the babble that we think we mean. How can he meters face to face. Till we have faces. And in the ditches in the
congregation of Rabbi live the man who customarily led the prayers that go on Horus. That I love let's talk I asked him how was it that you were a horse. Well because I've been praying before the congregations of the other one quotes of the rabbi if one plays before the congregation one grows of course but if one goes before the living God one does not go as well to the astonishment of the congregation leaving the talk suddenly tore up a contract of betrayal which read in the customer and the wedding will take place in a year in the city ditches. Then we are ready to read the wedding will take place in a year in the restored holy city of Jerusalem over which our king the Messiah will be. However in the event that the Messiah should not come the wedding will take place in the year and
beauticians. There was this little chemical used to say. When they judge me in the world to come. They were not asked musician. Why were not those it's their last musician. Why were you not just. A disciple. Came to rob a middle of quotes. But you complained. I keep and broody and don't seem to be able to stop. What you about asked the rabbi. I keep reading about whether there is a just God what does it matter to Rabbi if there was no just God then what meaning is there to rock Lucian. The clip does that matter to you. Rabbi.
If there is no meaning to creation right to the words of our holy scriptures mean and what does that matter to you does it matter to me what does the rabbi think redness could matter to me. Well. If it matters to you as much as all that's of the rabbi of God's then we are all ready after all. You just quite proper for you to brood and nothing will go amiss. Another disciple told governmental of clouds about his terrible troubles. Don't worry advised the rabbi. Pray to God with all your heart in the Merciful Lord will have mercy upon you. But I don't know how the case of the other us of the rabbis. Then you have indeed a great deal too. Little of consequence said. Every man should have two pockets one of his pockets should be a
note which says dust and ashes. Into the other pocket should be a note which says For my sake was the world created. Whether men don't want his disciples I do not want you to see it. Not because it's wrong. But because there isn't enough time. Once called to some of his disciples and said What is the meaning of all this talk that we have been hearing lately that people ought to pray earnestly. Is there anything at all. He said that one ought not to do earnestly. Thank. You.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank. You. Saying.
We need to.
Go back. The people that worked in darkness have seen a great light on those who live in
a land of deep shadow a lightish on. You have made their gladness greater. You have made their joy increase. They rejoice in your presence as men rejoice at harvest time as men are happy when they are dividing the spoils were for the yoke that was weighing on him. The bar across his shoulders the rod of his oppressor. These you break as on the day of Midian for the footgear of battle. Every clerk rolled in blood is burnt and consumed by fire. For there is a child born for us a son given to us and dominion is laid on his shoulders. And this is the name they give him. Wonder Counselor Mighty God Eternal Father Prince of Peace. Why does his dominion in a piece that has no end for the throne of David and for his royal power which he establishes and make secure in justice and integrity from this time on Woods and for ever the jealous love of the Lord of hosts will do
this. I saw an angel standing in the sun and he shouted aloud to all the birds that were flying high overhead in the sky. Come here gather together at the great feast that God is giving. You will be the flesh of Kings for you and the flesh of great generals and here are the flesh of horses and their riders and of all kinds of men citizens and slaves. Small and great. Then I saw the great white throne and the one who was sitting on it in his presence.
Earth and Sky vanished leaving no trace. I saw the dead both great and small standing in front of his throne while the Book of Life was opened and other books opened which were the record of what they had done in their lives by which the dead were judged. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now and there was no longer any sea. I saw the holy city and the New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven as beautiful as a bride all dressed for her husband. Then I heard a loud voice call from the throne. You see this city here God lives among men. He will make his home among them. They should be his people and he will be very God. His name is God with them. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death no more mourning or sadness. The world of the past has gone.
This was.
