Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Outside? Outside. Why not? On our patio. There you go. No, I'm just doing background stuff now. Okay. Maybe you want to take a picture. Okay, I just didn't want to get into that. You might want to get some of these guys out of the background. Excuse me, could you all move over here, please? Because you're going to be right in the... Any time? Yeah, I'm on it. Okay, cue. Hi, I'm Steve Thomas from This Old House. If you've had to measure once
and cut twice, or maybe even more than that, maybe you ought to watch This Old House right here on KNME TV5. That's good. Let's do one more there. One for cover? Yep. And I'm rolling any time. Cue. Hi, I'm Steve Thomas from This Old House. Now, if you've had to measure once and cut a few more times than twice, maybe you ought to watch This Old House right here on KNME TV5. Well, hi, I'm Steve Thomas from This Old House. Now, I know of a place that's been building for three -and -a -half decades, and they're still building a solid foundation for education. Happy 35th anniversary, KNME TV5, from all of us at This Old House. Okay, I'm
rolling. Okay, cue. Well, hi, I'm Steve Thomas from This Old House. Now, I know of a place that's been building a solid foundation for 35 years. Happy... Okay, rolling. Cue. Well, hi, I'm Steve Thomas from This Old House. Now, I know of a place that's been building a solid foundation for 35 years, and that's KNME TV5. So, happy 35th anniversary from all of us at This Old House. Good. Okay, I'm rolling. Cue. Well, hi, I'm Steve Thomas from This Old House. Now, I know of a place that's been building a solid foundation for education for three -and -a -half decades. Happy
35th anniversary, KNME TV5, from all of us at This Old House. Okay, and I'm rolling. Okay, cue. Hi, I'm Steve Thomas from This Old House, and you're watching KNME TV5 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Good. Another one? One more time, please. Rolling? Yep. Cue. Hi, I'm Steve Thomas from This Old House, and you're watching KNME TV5 in Albuquerque. So, you guys staying busy, huh? That's good. That's good. We'll just keep doing it until we get
one right. That's right. So, you're just about done with this one. And then, Steve, I'll share a little something with you. These particular clients have a couple of grown children, but they're just a challenge. And they come home some on weekends, and so they didn't want huge rooms for them, but they wanted some special touches. Namely, they wanted the laboratories to be private in their bedrooms, and then we share a small bath between them. So, their daughters are in this here, as you might have imagined, and then a nice functional little bath in between, and then the boys' room over here, and a little more masculine touch, and again, the same custom sort of approach to that. Install the mill works in every house that we do, and that's the last time we use it. That's the signature for that house. Oh, really? All the baseboards, crowns. Do you run them yourself? No, we run them at a local mill works, but we design every one fresh. And then if they use those again, that's fine, but we won't do it. The other thing I'd like to point out to you, and this is all from local sources, I
might add, the glue -chip glass to match the transom glass in the front entry system. This was all custom done here in Albuquerque, and we're real proud of that. Correct. Very nice. Is the upstairs on the tour as well? Indeed. Indeed. Are these clients from Albuquerque? 15 -pound felt on a pitched roof. We had a good rain and had a couple of drops. Then the roofers came in and put the system on, and it leaked all over the whole house, so we haven't come to tear it off. And I think that mostly it was more of a concern because the local purveyors of that sort of thing weren't really up to speed. But what we do is we do a gravel -built -up roof, and those products have improved so greatly over the last few years. And then positive drainage on everything, and that's really the key. We have a quarter -inch slope per foot on all of our work, and that's the key is getting the water off of it. Then you'll notice the splash pads here for the canals and that sort of thing. The little touches that you do really make all the difference.
A nice deck to the west. It's wonderful for sunsets and then a gas -log fireplace, as you can see. And then a nice little touch here is the kitchenette. Are there restrictions on burning? There are on certain nights of the year, so the gas -log is a good idea. We have a stacked washer and dryer in this little mini -kitchen unit with refrigerator, cooktop, sink, and microwave, and that's a nice thing. If you want, have a little isolation if you have a hospital company or something. It works out pretty well. Good. And then the master bath is across the entry area there. It's a religious experience. Well, it could be with a magnum of champagne. And so we have the tub and the sinks and the faucets and all that. Water closet separate, of course. And then
the custom marble shower, cultured marble, of course, with the groovy shower heads, which are second to none. Pressure balanced and temperature controlled and all that sort of thing. And then, if you notice, a private exit student balcony there. And the other thing is, the people that live in the house... Good. By the way, if you... This is wonderful. Yeah. If I'm talking about the building, I want to find out... Because I can turn the situation around instead of just talking about the same thing. I can talk about the building, which I love to think about. And also... By the time the 15th person... I don't want to talk about this anymore. Oh,
it's not? No, but I can't miss it. Yeah. Yeah, that's right. That's right. What a good memory. Yeah, right on the highway. Where do they mine when they are? What's that over there? Oh, just come on down. Come on down. Let's walk down with the builder. No, no, I want you in there. Oh, Mr. Builder. Go ahead. Go ahead. Seriously. He goes. He comes and he goes. Which way do we want to go? What's the story with the murals? The finished product is going to be multi -dimensional. What we're doing here is...
They had a local artist come in who does murals, and she painted that scene that you see there. They're going to take family portraits and heirloom portraits in frames and scatter them about that, but also include some directly on that two -dimensional surface so that you have two - and three -dimensional pictures there. It should be pretty interesting this time. Trust me. Are you on sale? I know it's in your mind. I'm a power voter. Am I selling these sometimes? Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that. But I enjoy the product. I'm a power voter. Do you want to talk about the product or something? Why don't you maybe walk over to the Homes and Enchantment poster there? All right. Is this their furniture? Yes. Some of the accessories in the house were provided by businesses here
in town. The idea for the feature home is simply to benefit the Home Builders Association, to give people who are interested in participating and not just signing a membership check once a year a chance to contribute to the Home Builders Association and also to show off some of their stuff. That's how we became involved in a variety of homes. Since we don't do any model or spec work, this is about the only way we could be included. But we're real flattered to be part of it, and we're really proud of all the people we do business with. Extremely. Well, it's beautiful. I mean, everywhere you look. Well, it's just nice to get to work with the best. That's the idea. You obviously take a lot of fun in your work. Well, it's a lot of fun. It's a good way to make a living. Actually, there are people out there doing important work. But the fact is that this is something that we all have in common. And in this country, we're really blessed that a home is a real important part of our culture. Well, we can all still afford it. That's a nice view. Thank you very much. We had an extraordinary
lot to work with here. And one thing I'll say about it, you know, we not only use the best windows, but we put them in a good spot. If a window doesn't frame a picture, it doesn't go in my house. So we don't take any of them for granted. They're all there for a reason. Oh, I get it. Well, there's Steve Thomas in the kitchen. Bless his name. Have a seat. For her windows. Yes, ma 'am. I own for two. Written for 10 years. Right there. Thanks.
Well, you're welcome. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
