Illustrated Daily; Penitentiary Riot: Ground After Recapture
- Transcript
you I can't give you the truth, command, or stuff like that. Colonel? Yes, it's awesome. When you all moved in and what happened as they moved in? Well, we moved in yesterday morning with the guard and just had been standing waiting to see where we were needed in order to support the state police. And the penitentiary officials, that's all we've done up to this point. I see what happened when you got the call to move in.
Was there any incident? Today? Yes, sir. No, none at all. None of I know of. For times you've moved in. Just about 15 minutes ago. How was the operation handled? Where did they come in from? They came right through this gate along with the state police swap team and the city of Santa Fe swap teams. And they're employed as you see them right there. As these people voluntarily come out and give up. We haven't engaged any of them physically in any manner at this point. Have any shots been fired at all? None at all. Not from our people. Anyone? No, not that I know of. That's what I know of. It's not a big shot here with the inmates sitting down there.

- Raw Footage Description
- On this episode of “Illustrated Daily,” we look at the aftermath of the State Penitentiary Riots as troops from the army, National guard, SWAT team, and state police stand by. Helicopters fly overhead, emergency medical personnel tend to the injured, smoke fumes plummet into the air from the facility, and prisoners are seen handcuffed or in restraints seated on the ground while prison guards surround them. Armed troops surround the facility, but no shots have been fired. Reporters interview a local politician regarding the incident.
