symphony but the underwhelmed by the piano some way people would say well i can't really hear the difference but the difference lies in not only about the characteristics of the sound some have a very large aggressive kind of sound some have a much more subdued kind of sound but it also lies in the the touch and feel of the piano the action and he's all of those things ever will affect on pianist you know when the pianist playing an instrument it's a great instrument they open up and they relax and they or really able to extract a lot more color and detail of the mass of the instrument than if they're playing instrument that their it they feel like they're having to fight despite the care that went to the hunt for the humber build steinway isn't pianist won't have to play a valentine one to give performers the option of american made steinway which are thought to have a brighter more aggressive sound than the hamburg models although the symphony sent a delegation of six to new york to examine steinway's at the factory show room they didn't find one they liked as well as a concert grand the symphony had been leasing for some

Description
Episode Description
Steinway and Sons begins one new concert grand in its Queens New York factory every day. It is an 11 month process that mingles craft, science, art, and a touch of alchemy. The only guarantee after thousands of hours of labor, is that each piano will be very good. A handful will somehow be great. The Nashville Symphony assigned Jean Eve Thibaudet, the first concert soloist of the Schermerhorn Center era, to hunt for one of those great pianos.
