when the national chamber orchestra the nashville shakespeare festival and the tennessee dance theater got the results of the nineteen ninety four metropolitan art study they realize they have a lot in common we discovered that no intuition interest in marketing we also share similar audiences that that not not just demographic and literally the same people were going to our each of our three groups of us paul gamble as a founder and musical conductor for the nationally recognized national chamber orchestra we got together and father we would take it to the next level and create basically a management team and space that could provide a business atmosphere for the arch to growing for our three groups their collective is now known as arts energy after years of planning and a new arts commission study gamble says they'd better understand how to serve their audiences and get more people interested in the arts with a two hundred fifteen thousand dollar grant from the first foundation gambles group along with a tennessee dance theater and the national shakespeare festival are getting ready to
move into a new shared home on fifth in the faded downtown besides ag building is going to be the seven anger the energy audits ellen's i told is the executive director for arts energy she says they're in the perfect location to act as a support network for several of nashville's smaller arts organizations if you looked down fifth avenue towards downtown to twenty packers annual c and browns gallery and then if you come a little further the arena what they're also adding the new coach musical explain how is putting up the hotel is going to be about a performance space at a park so we will be connected all the way through and fifth avenue with arts activities is going to be a theater rehearsal space here right now it's filled with a lot of equipment that we've been collecting for other groups and behind that will probably be the independent film festival and then if you go through here there's some offices will be the national chamber orchestra the national shakespeare festival and mocking bird here the space that i'd told the explaining
is owned by hermitage electric car it's energy is renting it for now with an option to buy twenty five thousand dollars at the first grant specifically directed toward the new building the front has huge curtain windows and plenty of all the specs the back as suggested by the arts commission steady has lots of parking this base tillman right now is going to be high calorie basis over here there's communities even see it and see the den space is going to have windows looking out over the avenue the arts to be a little bit rough at first we were sort of harkens back to our soho days of you know fixing the last dance and stuff and your creature is artistic director of the tennessee gets your attention you can present your show business and marketing an office so at first were just looking for offices and then i guess the synergy party and you come out with more and more arts groups joining in a more studious base going into the initial plan while the artistic energy is contagious the group's business plan includes several phases of
development over a period of years for phase two they plan to turn the warehouse in the back of the building into a performance space that several arts organizations can use with nine thousand square feet it has high ceilings and no columns right now though it's still filled with boxes of life because this is this is still a hermitage electric warehouse the size of this race they said imagine two years of performance space every night can be different performances with adjustable seating flights integrate overhead visual arts dance is working musicians in a studio with perfect acoustics a big conference room where artists from different groups take a broken beat each other seven tries and when you're kidding when you saw the big tree on the backyard and declared a tree fort up there and start dreaming about an entry for the beach and this common were doing standing here imagining what what could have been in the space of course the reality will descend quickly upon us which is why this is distinctly face to something something they dream about
and we do have the option of moving here there's now something where you have are compelled to do on fire agreement with the us for now they just ordered a new copy and are still making plans runs yes alternative arts does exist in michigan for national public radio an international team yeah
