Series Description
"With the high cost of living continuing to spiral, and the public confronted with budgetary problems, the Municipal Broadcasting System saw the necessity for a special consumer service so that families would be properly advised on spending their money wisely and well. Noted consumer counsel Dr. Persia Campbell is the conductor of the series, which proved an immediate success when launched in mid-December. Many letters poured into the station, expressing gratitude for the outstanding aid being given to the public, particularly in informing them on the various protective laws for the consumer. Discussions on time-buying, bait advertising and ['phony'] bargains proved most enlightening to the public, making people aware of pitfalls, and alerting them to the safeguards set up by government (city, state, and federal) for their protection."--1957 Peabody Awards entry form.
