- Description
- Description
- The Jewish world splinters as one Jewish sect becomes a religion - Christianity. Rabbis gain respect and authority among the Jews as the Roman Empire unravels and turns to Christianity. The "Dark Ages" begin in Europe, and Jewish scholarship produces the classic expression of Rabbinic Judaism, the Talmud. In the East, a major new religion, Islam, arises from the deserts of the Arabian peninsula and sweeps the Mediterranean as Jews and Muslims join in a creative economic and cultural partnership.
