- Sherrill Blackman came From North Carolina to Nashville to become a songwriter. Interview footage with the singer. Blackman decided the business side of the industry was his best bet. He got his music degree from Belmont University as well as spending years at Nashville Songwriters Association, giving advice to nearly 20,000 aspiring songwriters. Blackman is an independent songplugger, who represents a songwriter's catalogue.
