Hey there! Our three of Friday Night Jazz, VPR with Ruben Jackson, will begin with music by pianist Frank Kimbrough, the collections called the Frank Kimbrough quartet. Remember they don't joke with Paul Desmond? How many members, what, how many of their are you in the quartet? Frank Kimbrough, piano, Steve Wilson, alto soprano saxophones, Jay Anderson, double bass, Lewis Nash on drums. Another jazz standard to get things going here in our three John Lewis's afternoons in Paris. Pianist Frank Kimbrough in the Frank Kimbrough quartet, beginning our three of Friday Night Jazz
on VPR. Again, welcome and thanks so much for listening. We heard another pianist, longtime member of the modern jazz quartet, Mr. John Lewis's also lyrical composition afternoon in Paris. And just a reminder for great jazz 24 hours a day wherever you are, check out VPR jazz 24. You can listen at vpr.net and on your smartphone. Another pianist up next, Mr. Hal Galper, Hal Galper again on piano, Mr. Jeff Johnson on bass, John Bishop on drums. This CD is called Furious Rubato and I'm a little sad in announcing that because I wanted that name for like a hip hop moniker, you know. Furious Rubato dropping in science, you know what I'm saying. Anyway, from Furious Rubato with your Miles Davis's Milestones. Pianist or pianist, depending on where you're from Hal Galper, from Furious Rubato,
and we heard a Milestones here in our three of Friday Night Jazz on VPR. We will start this next multi-song set with a gentleman who died in 2014. Native of Ohio began singing with his brothers in church as so many African-American vocalist did and they had a group called the Valentinos. Did a song call. I'm looking for love. The person in question Bobby Womack was a little bit miffed and they also did, what's that song? I used to love her but it's all over now. The rolling stones did that and Bobby Womack was a little ticked off about that and his employer and friend, Sam Cook told him, you know, you're going to get royalties from this. Sam Cook of course had that musical and business vision. Bobby Womack next with a piece that, you know, isn't the state song with it? It could well be some other time. Bobby Womack singing Moonlight in Vermont. Oh!
Safe way in the way. I think I heard what I'm talking about. Oh! The mountainside. Snowlight. Snowlight. Snowlight in Vermont. Oh! Telegraph camos. The sink up and down the highway. It's beautiful. People who meet under the strawman and fatty. So you're the time for love is in the way. Even some breeze yet. Wobbling. Wobbling. Wobbling. Wobbling. Wobbling. Wobbling. Wobbling. Wobbling.
