Beginning to End' (an anthology of the works by Samuel Beckett) is the best example of our attempt to find new forms for television drama employing the newest technology and exploring new material.--1971 Peabody Awards entry form. 'Beginning to End? is a one-man show starring Jack MacGowran, an actor familiar with Samuel Beckett's works, performing the series of monologues that range from ruminations on life to experimental, philosophical strings of words and phrases. This special is filmed in the Mojave Desert and features shots of it alongside MacGowran.

"Hollywood Television Theatre is a series of dramatic shows addressed to a general audience and attempting to make available productions of the best modern drama, primarily American. It has ranged from naturalistic to avant-garde and plays such as 'The Typists' by Murray Schisgal, 'Birdbath' by Leonard Melfi, 'Neighbors' by Arkady Leokum and 'The Picture' by Eugene Ionesco.
