"A series concerned with the nature and problems of people. Faculty participants from several of the large universities and colleges in the Boston area have made a wide variety of contributions to the program in the fields of psychology, sociology, and anthropology as well as in the general field of social relations. These contributions have been adapted for radio by means of discussion, quiz, interview, and dramatic techniques."--1948 Peabody Digest. "We Human Beings" program dramatizes the real life experiences of different people. This episode focuses on the story of a young man whose deep unhappiness destroys his life. The narrator recounts how he came to know his friend Brig. Brig has a talent for working on cars, but because his family is wealthy and want him to go to college, they do not approve. His parents send Brig to college, but he runs away because he wants to work with his hands. Brig gets a job as a mechanic, but he is unhappy, and he develops a drinking problem. He pushes those who love him away and disappears. After the story is told, the program features a discussion with guests about Brig's story and why he disappeared.
