Episode Description
This is an episode of the series "Chicago Tonight." It focuses on the flaws within the Department of Family and Children Services and the courts on how to deal with children in the foster care system. Begins with a report by Barbara Williams. She interviews attorney James Montana, who represented the governor's office in the "Sarah" case, where the court found that the interest of a child is paramount; and ACLU attorney Ben Wolf, who is suing DCFS. Bruce DuMont moderates a panel discussion with Carol Amadio, an attorney and associate professor of social work at Loyola University; Diane Redleaf, supervisory attorney for the Children's Rights Project of the Legal Assistance Foundation; and Jerome Stermer, president of Voices for Illinois Children and a member of Governor Edgar's Child Welfare Action Group.
