Description
Series Description
"When Yo-Yo Ma decided to re-record J.S. Bach's Suites for the Unaccompanied Cello, he approached world champion skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean to join him in interpreting the Sixth Suite. Combining beautiful images of Yo-Yo Ma's performance with magnificent sequences of Torvill and Dean and J.S. Bach's first person narrative, SIX GESTURES investigates J.S. Bach's personal and professional history while linking his life and music to our modern world. SIX [GESTURES] brings the world of classical music to all age groups thereby exposing this genre to young adults who perhaps would not experience this art form. Making J.S. Bach's music accessible to everyone helps all generations to understand and appreciate this art form through the eyes of cello virtuoso Yo-Yo Ma. Produced by Rhombus Media in association with TVOntario, Thirteen-WNET/New York BBC Television, RTP-Portugal, NPS Dutch Television, Sony Classical, ZDF-German Television in cooperation with ARTE and with participation of Telefilm Canada, The Canada Television and Cable Production Fund- License Fee Program, The Government of Canada- Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit Program.
