- Program Description
- "Seeking the Truth is a landmark documentary exposing the facts and myths of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Through interviews with witnesses, King's fellow civil rights leaders, prosecutors, government leaders, and the words of the convicted assassin James Earl Ray, Joshua Levs uncovers the shocking unanswered questions in one of the most emotional and controversial crimes in American history. Levs proves a disturbing, inescapable fact: the King assassination was never fully solved. "As James Earl Ray approaches death and fights for the trial he never had -- and as America approaches the 30th anniversary of the crime that rocked the country -- this story needed to be done, and done brilliantly. Joshua Lev's work for WABE's Atlanta Forum aired well before other major media picked up on the topic. He was invited to speak on talk shows and consulted by prestigious magazines. National Public Radio opened an unusually large timeblock to air much of this report, and the Voice of America played it worldwide. This documentary is, we believe, the most important and compelling of 1997."--1997 Peabody Awards entry form.
