- "LEGAL FIX is a comprehensive look at the recent public controversy surrounding the suggestion that the time had come for Americans to consider legalizing drugs as a means of dealing with the nation's drug problems. The documentary looks at the impact of illegal drugs in our cities and the toll that is being taken in these communities by drug related crime. "The program features both the leading proponents and critics of the proposed legalization. In addition, it looks at the British and Dutch examples of legalizing certain drugs, the impact such programs have had in these countries, and the projected impact of similar programs in the United States. "While the program does not presume to offer a final [judgment] on the appropriate course for this country to take in order to successfully overcome its drug crisis, LEGAL FIX does offer a sobering look at one of America's most serious problems."--1988 Peabody Awards entry form. The program interviews Sue Kopen, Mike Gimbel, and Herman Jones to get their perspectives on the legalization conversation.
