"This special documentary summarizes Orlando's aviation history: from the very earliest of airplane chronicles to Orlando's current status of being one of the world's largest airline destinations. "The program was developed in order to provide viewers with important information about the history of aviation in Orlando. To help them develop a deeper appreciation of their world class airport. Profiling the visionaries who pursued aviation when flying was an oddity, 'Wings of the Past' showcases how the Orlando community worked closely with government officials to build the airline bloodstream that currently feeds our great city. "'Wings of the Past' merits Peabody consideration because of the terrific overall quality of the program. A large amount of time, research, creativity and skill went into building this story line and the result proves to be educational, informative and very entertaining. "The show was targeted to the Orlando and surrounding area public and has been very well received. Several re-broadcasts have resulted from the community's overwhelming interest and enthusiasm in the show. WMFE-TV Channel 24 has received numerous letters, phone calls and general input from 'Wings of the Past' viewers expressing their appreciation."--1996 Peabody Awards entry form.
