Program Description
"On New York's Upper West Side, thousands of Negroes and Puerto Ricans have faced eviction and relocation ever since the City announced plans for a twenty block urban renewal program. Many of these people had come to regard the area as their community and they were deeply troubled by the [prospect] of dislocation. This program presents interviews with residents of the area on what the neighborhood meant to them and what they hoped for in the future."--1962 Peabody Awards entry form.
