Description
Series Description
"'Art for the Day' is a series of concise three-minute programs designed to expose viewers to a broad spectrum of the world's art. Each program focuses on a singular art item, although comparison between more than one art items [is] used occasionally to simplify conveying a specific point. The narration is purposefully kept on an easy-to-understand candid, often purely suggestive, basis without bending to naivete'. Items used include not only 'well knowns' as Rembrandt's 'Night Watch,' but such things as Chinese sculpture, American folk art and contemporary Jewish printmaking. Because of the broad scope of time, place, media, and style [covering] the 360 programs, each is necessarily handled individually -- introducing viewers in a unique way to the world of art. The four programs submitted as representational of the series, and included on this reel are: 'Fur Traders Descending the Missouri,' 'William,' 'The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere,' and 'Creekbed.'"--1971 Peabody Awards entry form. These are Programs 108, 118, 121, 130.
