Series Description
"'SOUNDSTAGE' is a series of 15 hour-long programs designed to highlight the best in contemporary music and, while doing so, take the audience beneath the surface of the performance to the artist and his inspiration. "'SOUNDSTAGE' follows a threefold approach, sometimes presenting a single performer with special talent or insight in a 60-minute showcase, sometimes uniting two or more performers bound by a common musical history or approach, and sometimes executing a concept presentation revolving around periods and genres of American music. "In addition to the live-concert format, 'SOUNDSTAGE' has in its first season made use of vignettes filmed on location, talk and reminisce segments, reunions and recreations of places and pairings that made musical history, all with an eye towards revealing the source of musical creation. "The Executive Producer of 'SOUNDSTAGE' is Kenneth Ehrlich. David Erdman is Producer/Director. The Associate Producer is Elliot Wald."--1974 Peabody Awards entry form.
