"Follow My Lead: Is a half hour documentary on parenting. The program explores the problems and solutions of a single mother and her young son, [focuses] on the confusion and compromises of a newly arrived Hispanic family and their first generation, very Americanized teenage daughter and watches as an affluent and over-[achieving] family struggles to set goals and establish boundaries for their son and daughter. How do parents set boundaries yet manage to keep communication open? The show uproots the old saying 'Do as I say and not as I do.' Instead it attempts to communicate a new saying 'Do as I do and not as I say'."--1995 Peabody Awards entry form excerpt. Single mother Elizabeth Stanley and her son David talk about what it is like for a child not to have an involved father. Parents Dr. Donald Henderson and Jamesina E. Henderson share their thoughts about parenting and the unconditional love that children desire.
