Program Description
"'The Social Commodores' went to New York's Lower East Side, a former Puerto Rican fighting gang's domain. The gang, turned 'social', was interviewed in their club-house on their problems, aspirations, and fears. In the course of the program, one of the gang members raised the question of harassment by City Housing Police with the result of a promise by the City Housing Administration to investigate the project."--1962 Peabody Awards entry form.
