Program Description
Chuck Kraemer, a previous winner of two Peabody Awards, has become a one-man-band the last few years, producing, writing, shooting, editing and appearing in his own pieces, all of which below aired on 'Greater Boston' on WGBH, Ch. 2. Kraemer has been a broadcaster for 23 years in Boston, working in many on-air roles: arts reviewer, feature storyteller, commentator, technology correspondent and news reporter. He began shooting his own stuff in 1987, out of a desire to hang around longer on a story than he ever could with a camera man in tow. At first, working behind the camera seemed to prohibit appearing in front of it, but Kraemer now considers himself a virtuoso of an exotic technical devicethe tripod. "He also does more reportorial feature stories, such as 'Butterfly Place,' included here, but most of the pieces in this entry are commentaries, often humorous. "Kraemer works in the DV, all-digital format, shooting with a small Sony camera and editing at home with a system that costs only about $10,000.
