"On February 27, 1995, as the District of Columbia's fiscal crisis was being revealed, Here and Now broadcast a program that advanced the public's knowledge and understanding of how Washington came to find itself in such desperate shape. In her only public comments since losing the mayoral election in November, Sharon Pratt Kelly sat for an exclusive interview with Here and Now host Derek McGinty. The interview was preceded by a videotape piece examining what had gone wrong with the Kelly administration to allow once-disgraced mayor Marion Barry to win reelection. At a time when all of Washington was wondering how such a fiscal mess could have developed, Here and Now provided at least a few answers."--1995 Peabody Awards entry form.
