In this episode Tim Thompson (Fred Stone) provides literal examples of these educational tools and methods for studying through Gloria (Jeanne Broeren), Jeff (Randy Krueger), Sandy (Jane Penner) and Cory (Kevin Donavan) applying the methods to various subjects or topics they are studying for. Thompson also provides explanations of the science behind memorization in studying and emphasizes the importance of intention behind reading in order to better grasp the material.
Series Description
"This is program seven of an eight-program series for seventh and eighth grade students designed to help them make the sometimes difficult transition from reading narrative or storybook material to reading expository or textbook material. "In this program the lead character recalls some 'remembering tools' he used in studying for high school exams and how he applied those principles to passing his driver's exam. The young repertory cast shows, by example, how some of the 'remembering' tips were discovered, such as visualizing, paraphrasing, questioning, discussing, and reviewing. The cast interacts in examples to determine the answers to the journalistic questions 'who,' 'what,' 'where,' 'why,' and 'how.'"--1982 Peabody Awards entry form.
