- Description
- Episode Description
- Segment One, 'Whose Future Do You Buy'' presents and introduction to the function and different viewpoints to be found among those who specialize in working on the future. Segments Two and Three are profiles of Herman Kahn and Steward Brand, two men with different views of the future. Segment Four presents a historical view of predictions ranging from Nostradamus to H.G. Wells. Segment Five is about future lifestyles including an animated cartoon, 'Life,' produced by the well-known animator George Griffin; followed by a dramatized vignette about loneliness; and a documentary on the increase in the older population, hosted by Art Carney. In the Final Segment the issues of Nuclear Energy and the Use of Space are explored in documentary form. The program is designed for the general public television audience, but seeks to present its material in an informative, interesting manner, often using production techniques such as animation and drama, not usually associated with public affairs programming."--1980 Peabody Awards entry form.
