- Episode Description
- This is Episode Two. "The Town Council of Freeboro must take a position before the EIC hearing. In order to best represent the people of the community, the Mayor and the Councilmen have called a public town meeting to 'give all the factions' in the dispute an opportunity to be heard. "Business interests in the community are represented by the Chamber of Commerce (based on program #1 audience input). A new strong emphasis is placed on the need for new jobs in the community. "Having heard arguments from all groups and citizens assembled, the Mayor charges the Councilmen to decide between alternatives for presentation before the EIC on program #4 (December 2). The viewer is playing the role of the town councilman and will make an individual decision which when combined with the vote of others will guide the town fathers in their EIC presentation."--description from accompanying teacher guide. The program ends in an interview with Mr. Dougald MacDonald, general managers of B&M's cannery in Portland Oregon, and Mr. Lucas Percinos, public relations director of the William Underwood Company, owner of B&M. They discuss the environmental impacts of canneries and the social responsibility they have.
- Series Description
- "North of the Namaskeag. This project is a television simulation, constructed to involve the viewer in making a decision after viewing televised facts. The viewer then communicates his decision to the producers, who then build the next television unit on the viewer' collective decision. Thus, in this TV simulation, the viewer input determined the outcome of each program.
