- On this episode of Forum, Michael Krasny interviews physicist Murray Gell-Mann. They discuss his discovery of the quark and his book The Quark and the Jaguar. Listeners call in with questions for Gell-Mann on subjects such as gravity, evolution, black holes, the Nobel Prize, and quarks. After the episode, Ray Suarez previews an episode of Talk of the Nation on the subject of nurses and health care reform. Korva Coleman reports the headlines, including including upcoming vote on ban of assault weapons; helicopter crash in New York City with a report from WNYC's Dick Hinchliffe; violence in Kigale and the Rwandan civil war with a report from the BBC's Mark Doyle; and the caning of American Michael Fay in Singapore for vandalism and theft.
