The legendary pianists. BNA E.B. radio network brings you another in a series of recitals by keyboard giants of the early 20th century. These performances are selected from more than 1000 Recordings. I'm doing art reproducing piano rolls collected by Dr. Campbell stuff. The chairman of the music department at Washington State University. The duo art was a highly. Sophisticated refinement of the player piano. Developed to preserve actual performances of concert artists in the days before I like chronic record. Now here is Campbell stout. To introduce today's legendary pianist for a period covering more than 50 years Joseph Hoffman held a very important position on the concert stages of the world. Throughout many of these years he was perhaps the most highly respected of all the many fine pianists before the public.
He gave his first Carnegie Hall recital in 1907 at the age of 11. Fifty years later his anniversary recital in the same hall was probably the high spot of the New York concert season. All of the compositions on today's Chopin program were recorded for the do art by Mr. Hoffman. In the middle one thousand 20s right at the height of his career because of the total length of the minor concerto we were unable to use the entire composition on one half hour program. Consequently last week's concert ended with the first movement of the work. Today's program begins with the remaining two movements the second movement is labeled romance and is followed immediately by the finale movement. Randall Vivace. You've been listening to the second and third movements of the Chopin E minor concerto Mr. Hoffman
continues is all Chopin program with a performance of bare sous. You have just heard Bear says by Chopin. Today's programme will conclude with use of Hoffman's
performance of Chopins waltz in A-flat Opus 42. That was Chopin's waltz in a flat as played by Jules of Hawkman the featured
artist on today's program. This has been the legendary pianists. It's a series of recitals from doing large reproducing piano rolls. By the keyboard giants of the early 20th century. Your host and commentator on these programs is Dr. Campbell Stout the chairman of the music department at Washington State University. Speaking. The legendary pianist is produced by Washington State University Radio. And distributed by the N.A. Radio Network.
