From Cincinnati we present the first of six programs by the last South string quartet the series was produced by WG U.S. the University of Cincinnati radio station and the programs were made possible by contributions from the friends of the U.S. quartet is now in its 13th year of residence at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. The quartet members are Walter Levine and Henry Meyer violins Peter comets are Viola and Jack Kirsteen cello later in the program. We are to hear a concertina go of Igor Stravinsky and the quartet in D major opus 18. Number three by Beethoven. When Bella Bard talks first quartets were composed it was difficult to get a hearing for them in Budapest. The first quartet remained on played for almost two years. None of the existing ensembles was venturesome enough to attempt it until 909 when four young string players personal friends of bar talk and code i.e.
decided to take matters into their own hands by forming a new quartet. The four young men the eldest not yet 25 and the youngest hardly 18 retained their identity until 1945 as devolved Capelli quartet to whom the second quartet is dedicated. The new ensemble performed the second quartet on March 3rd 1018 work at occupied barre talked for two years presents for the first time in concentrated form. The results of his folk songs study the second movement has the thrust and power of the Allegro Babo even more strongly intensified while the movements which enclose it less rigorous to be sure. Oh their whole existence to the essential elements of Magyar and related peasant music. The second quote was for some time difficult for audiences to accept. Years later it became the most frequently played of bar talks quartets. It was incidentally the first of his music to be
recorded in 1925 it was by the armoire quartet in which Paul Hindemith played the viola and remained for 10 years. The only one of his quartets records. We begin the program with a performance of the quartet number two by Bela Bartok played by the LA Sal quartet. The boy.
