NOW IN 1247 THE MONGOL EMPIRE SPREADS FROM CHINA TO THE BALKANS AS THESE DISCIPLINED WARRIORS APPEAR INVINCIBLE. THE POPE SENDS A PEACE ENVOY TO THE GREAT KHAN. THE DISTRUST PLANTED BY THESE WARRIORS FROM THE EAST CONTINUES IN THE WEST'S DISTRUST OF RUSSIA TODAY.
