after film school robert or headed to hollywood figuring he'd sell his first script and sixty eight months he took a job building sets and props for disney as he hammered and saw during the day or thought of the scenes he would write at night five years and several scripts later nothing had sold that's one or left la i didn't leave to go find some story i've been thinking about the mood for so long i just decided i should not be around a new friend from college is a photographer and was had been covering wars since began in croatia i was on to the parliament he says liberty's is her travel around the law or so it power company over there he spent time on the front lines in the southern part of bosnia mostly during a lull in fighting and hung out with mercenaries of all nationalities hired soldiers for the croatians fight against the serbs there's alliances began to fracture the croats begin killing muslims and a conversation with twenty two he was telling me that the last one's been hard on him because he was fine and he did not come to fight income support to convince of the leaf because then you have to go that was so the car's his new study on the road thinking
about writing savior has a telos hard on classical things going to get up and go do he was told to do that count in another soldier's story gave him the idea for his screenplay won the guys told me a story of how he saved an infant then he discovered a home and he when he entered the home it was like a disney movie only gets her parents were dead and the baby had been hidden in a cupboard you know i should target and did go off in the battle for a couple hours savers baby across lines it's the story that led him to the title savior a textured word with many meanings this one soldier's french guy to lead in six years of fighting and even the foreign legion for a four five years and thousands of years he never got wounded in the same as charley was wounded by a gun shot in his right side there's an image that i just want to know when the crust rooms saviors the story of an american mercenary called indie oliver stone saw the script and shooting began six months later that's also when the creative differences began the director who
is served when he can on board um he was uncomfortable making a movie about that side of the war he didn't mind i'm risking the wrath of his people but he was uncomfortable doing that on the other side that's why we rewrote it on the serb side based on the same story a few changes gaza turned lesson to a story about people doing things that they shouldn't do and more about the war itself in this scene serb soldier goran and he'd walk down a rubble strewn street at one point glory opens his camouflage shirt to show the t shirt underneath tooth slick there a lot of that the chicago these people is a cyber and their cyber imagining you're going to have to open their lives you know i think they're the bad guys
does that give some like you'd see was good that was flawed hero of bell dennis quaid plays key performance european critics have slaughtered and he is remorseful commonplace in soldiers and civilians alike even young children in his sniper crosshairs and pulling the trigger it's only when he steps in to save the surf woman kia and her baby that things begin to change or says there are moments he's proud of the film but that the director made the movie he wanted to make the two were at loggerheads so often that the opening of the film was really written without oars input he had already left the set in montenegro still oars names in the credits and even though it's not exactly the screenplay he wrote or says it's a good movie something that's taken him a while to say i like it but the signs are looking good now that you have seen
it of three says other spots in general the basic ideas in the script come through people so now that i've been away from it and seen some response from people not happy with it at thirty three with an oliver stone production to his credit or has stayed quiet busy even hopes to direct his own project this year the last showing of say beer is open to the public tuesday evening at seven it will be the last film shown at the watkins bell cort theatre for nashville public radio and he is say whoa oh they are

- After film school, Robert Orr headed to Hollywood figuring he'd sell his first script in 6-8 months. He took a job creating sets for Disney. 5 years and several scripts later, he sold nothing. He decided to leave Los Angeles at that point. He headed to Bosnia and spent time among the war there. Croats began killing Muslims. Robert Orr wrote "Savior", a screenplay based on the Bosnian war. It is the story of an American mercenary. Oliver Stone took on the script. The director, who is Serb, was uncomfortable making a movie about this side of the war. They rewrote the story on the Serb side. It became more about the war itself.
