Greetings verb of yours. I'm Christie the wordsmith. Recently we've been investigating eponym words derived from real people or mythological personalities who have loaned their names to the language. Examples include the Italian Luth year and Tonio strata vari who gave his name to the Stradivarius violin he perfected and the Greek god Atlas whose name is synonymous with a collection of maps today will again mind the wealth of mythology for another eponym mentor friend and confidant to a disservice. The fabled hero of ancient Greece when Odysseus left his home and if a cut to fight in the Trojan War he left behind his young son to lemme guess. Odysseus however provided a guardian for the boy. A trusted family friend named mentor full of years and wisdom mentor advised the young son whenever troubles besieged him. OK JW only the goddess Athena assume the guise of mentor and appeared to tell a magus also giving him divine counsel. Under mentors
guidance achieved adulthood and witnessed the return of his father Odysseus the mentor lived in the mythical age of ancient Greece. He's with us today in the word taken from his name mentor is the eponym of the modern English word that means wise teacher or trusted counselor. I'm Christie the wordsmith coming up on the next two additions a pair of eponym from the American West maverick. And Stetson.
