Greetings This is Christie the wordsmith. The one humped or dromedary camel domesticated in the Arabian Peninsula some 4000 years ago is legendary for its ability to withstand scorching heat long desert treks and stinging wind blown sand in an environment that provides scarce vegetation and water. The Dromedary is not only hearty it's fast achieving 40 miles per hour in short bursts. The creatures long legged speed has earned it its name. Dromedary comes ultimately from the Greek verb draw meon which means to run. Dromedary has an unlikely cousin in the word palindrome which is a word phrase or sentence that reads the same backwards as forwards. Kayak mom wow and new in our word palindromes palindromic phrases include the famous Madam I'm Adam and a man a plan a canal Panama. So how did camels and clever word formulations come to be kin. The answer lies in the Greek verb
Dromey en which gives us the drome in dromedary and palindrome Drummy and means to run which inspired the word dromedary literally the runner palindrome or a word that reads the same coming and going literally means a running back again. Palindromes run back on themselves in the same way they run forward pop toot and deeded Christi the wordsmith has recorded and produced on the campus of Montana State University in Bozeman.
